ATTN: VISITORS
Welcome to Marvel Heroes! Our newest site wide plot encompasses a bit of Marvel's Civil War story line, however we are not just copying it! In fact, very little of what will happen here will be similar to the comics themselves. It's no fun just to regurgitate what someone else did. We want creativity and adventure, "what if" twists and lots of conflict! We invite you to join in the adventure, choose a side or try to stay neutral of the Mandatory Registration Act.

A new dawn is upon us, and with it new challenges for all our heroes and villains alike. Another darkness lay waiting to take advantage of the heroes disarray and the mutants distrust. This darkness has no face, but looms over America like a storm that will bring an end to the world as we know it. Nothing will ever be the same once this storm passes, and it is unknown when or if it ever will. Are the heroes ready? Is America ready? Are you? Stay tuned as soon the "shot heard 'round the world" begins to change the face of those we knew as heroes and villains forever.

Marvel Heroes RPG has been up and running for over two years. In that time, we have seen an evolution with the way we do things, going from no major plots to incorporating site wide plots and integrating them with one another's smaller plots. This is can be seen in Marvel comics also, like Civil War or Secret Invasion. As we continue to strive to be better, we are always looking for fresh ideas, good writers and dedicated members. If you're into comics, feel up to the task and enjoy a good group of people, Marvel Heroes RPG might just be for you!

Most all written stories and content supplied by the staff and members of Marvel Heroes RPG. Marvel Comics is our basis for most all graphics, characters and the Civil War plot. No copy rights infringement intended.

Cypher sat back in her chair, eyeing Storm carefully as she spoke. After a moment, she flexed her hand and looked down at it.

“Maybe that is why. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, correct? This situation has drawn lines between everyone. It’s torn solid groups completely asunder. It’s brought new people together for a common goal no matter what it might be. If it wasn’t an ‘us’ and ‘them’ mentality before, it certainly is now. Doom put you in a room full of enemies, made you an unknown enemy to the metahumans for anti-registration, and I feel that his agenda is far more expansive than we will ever know.

“He sees all of us as enemies, never allies, yet he also sees everyone out there who opposes him as an enemy as well. While you work to oppose him, you are with the others who do the same, who are perhaps more dangerous to him then you are and he will expect you to tell him all that goes on. And while they may not know it and you might not like it, the fact that you work for Doom even as you fight alongside them makes you an enemy to them in the truest form. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, Ms. Munroe. It’s a complicated web all orchestrated by someone else, and we’ve all managed to get caught in it.”

She shifted, rubbing her temples with a steady hand. “I’ve been a pawn my entire adult life. I worked as a data collector for someone who appeared to be safe when I first began. I was stupid and naïve, and all I had wanted was a chance to prove that I was useful. Then he started sending me into places where I was lucky to make it out alive. I was shot seven times one night and would have died if I hadn’t had a doctor staying at my home at the time, and that still wasn’t the end of it. We are all Kings or Pawns. If you know what you are, you can work it to your advantage. What people fail to realize…” she smiled at Storm. “Is that even pawns can take out the kings or queens in the game. Especially if the kings or queens are overconfident. Both of us have been underestimated, Storm. That was Doom’s first error. His second error was not doing his research. You and I go a long ways back, and if he had done his research, he would have known that I would die before I stood aside and let him hurt you, no matter how it’s done. If he had known, more than likely he would have chosen someone else or kept us separated.”

She sighed and scratched at the back of her neck. “We can work this to our advantage. I hate being registered. I hate having my name in their data banks. It goes against my very nature to be a known to anyone. I will not be in the Thunderbolts for long, and when I do leave, they’ll find their information completely erased. They will have no mutant names in their files, not mine or anyone elses. I might even send their hellicarrier crashing to the ground, I haven’t decided yet…” she trailed off. She had been planning this since the Hellfire club meeting.

Storm had, of course, thought of these things. Knowing Doom never had friends or allies, only temporary alliances which at best were expendable was always at the forefront of the mutant woman's mind. She had been in the Hellfire Club before, but not in these circumstances. She was not at war with her own mentor, her own friends, despite being at war consistently with her own kind. Ororo had always understood her place in the Club in those times. But now? Now things were quite different.

For one thing, she was invited to join them. The timing made Storm think the Hellfire Club was going to intervene in the activities of the world. However, upon entering the room that day, Ororo soon found she was invited in to be but a mere informant of sorts. Doom either expected her former loyalties to the Hellfire Club would make her the perfect candidate, or he had something more sinister in mind knowing Ororo would not be so easily controlled and manipulated. Either way, it was up to Storm to figure out his motives and what he expected of her. If she flew blindly in his midst, it was likely she would be swatted and destroyed as easily as a fly.

Cypher spoke of being an enemy of his enemy and therefore his friend. Storm shuddered inside. She would never want to be counted among Victor's friends. The very thought was apprehensible, especially in light of the knowledge that he and the Club were behind the unfolding of the Registration Act and the splitting of the nation, particularly the super human community and her mutant family. For these infractions, Doom would not be forgiven and Storm would make it her personal mission to bring to justice both him and the Hellfire Club members who were involved in orchestrating this.

It appeared Cypher was thinking along the same lines. She spoke of the pawns taking out the Kings and Queens and how Doom should have done his research. While Storm agreed with much of what Cypher had said, she disagreed with that statement. She was reminded once again that often things with the Lord Imperial were rarely as simple as they seemed.

"I would find it difficult to believe that Doom is naive of our previous relationship," Storm countered. "I would think, rather that he assumed we would work better having one another on the same team. He would know I was your mentor at the School, that we were once close. Likely he believes having me on board will keep you in line and obeying his commands without subversiveness."

Tapping her finger on the table top, Ororo considered for a second before continuing. "And he would not be wrong in that respect," she nodded. "We will work together quite well, Aniko, but just as he works for his own agenda and everyone else is working on behest of themselves as well, we will do the same. Unfortunately for the others, they will have no true alliance on the board, no one whom they can trust - but we will have one another."

A small smile crept onto her face as she looked knowingly at Cypher. She had determined to trust her, albeit with a guarded heart and mind. Now it was simply a matter of time to know whether her trust was misplaced. "Still," Ororo continued, "it is too early to be looking at the end game and erasing all the mutant names from the database. Right now, let us to look at the near future and how we can best use our positions to our advantage. You say you do not plan to be with the Thunderbolts for long..?"

When Storm agreed to work together, the relief on Cypher’s face could be termed as heartbreaking. She blew out a breath and hugged the woman. She had been on edge for the past week, so aware of the fine thread which held her sanity intact attempting to stretch far beyond it’s capacity and snap. Her mind was ever-retaining, and it never let anything go. Everything she saw and heard was finely tuned and placed in her head, and that much information had a habit of weighing on a person, strong mental endurance or not.

“Thank you.” She whispered as she pulled back, tears threatening to come forth again. Rejection had always been one of her biggest fears, and to have her mentor’s trust again, however tentative, had taken a massive burden she had carried for years from her shoulders.

Wiping her eyes she sat down and sighed, silent for a moment. Storm asked about when she would leave the Thunderbolts and Aniko shook her head. “I’m not sure when I’ll leave yet. Osborne plans to try and kill me soon because I got in his way one too many times. He won’t be able to, but that may be my signal to leave. I can hold off on wiping the databases because I can do that from anywhere. It’s just a matter of it being the right time.”

She scratched at her neck, the burn-scarring their briefly visible. It still hadn’t stopped itching, and it was driving her crazy. She made a small face and distaste and placed her hands flat on the table, trying to sort through the plans she had made.

“I will contact you when we leave so that you are aware. We won’t go to Genosha; that is just as controlled as everywhere else. We’ll have to find someplace else, Cain and I.”

Ororo was surprised when Aniko hugged her. It had been some time since the two had even spoken, let alone been close enough to show any kind of affection. It warmed Ororo's heart, however, and she easily returned the embrace. It did not linger, but the knowledge that Cypher seemed so sincere, so true in her visible emotions, and this wasn't some ploy by Doom to see if she were loyal to the Club.

She really should have known, though. despite Aniko's often tough exterior, she had always been a vulnerable soul. She was often fearful of what others might think of her, carrying her heart on her sleeve. At least that's how she was with Ororo. Storm had always been able to discern her feelings and thoughts. Aniko was simply more transparent with her than with the rest. It had been an honor for Storm while the girl was blossoming into a woman, and it felt good to know the bond still existed somewhere in the mess of the separate paths of their different lives.

Siting back after the embrace ended, Storm watched as Aniko wiped her eyes and proceeded to answer her question. Of course she would expect Cane to join her where ever she went. That's how the heart was, always hoping for the best with the ones we love. Ororo hoped that would be true for her old friend, but she knew Cain not to be as predictable as that. However, Storm hoped more so that Cypher was wrong about Osborne. She didn't like the idea of the Green Goblin looking to have Cypher's head. It looked like she'd already been through enough.

"Yes, please do let me know what happens with the Thunderbolts," Ororo replied. "And if you need it, I am certain I can find refuge for you. I have my connections as well," she grinned wryly.

Sitting forward, Storm's eyes graced Cypher and settled on her cyberkinetic arm before meeting her eyes again. "Do you mind telling me the story of how this happened?" she asked, not wanting to intrude but also hoping to find out more about the life of her friend.

Cypher sat back, staring at her hand for a moment before flexing it and resting it back on the table.

"About seven years ago, a woman showed up at my place of residence who claimed to be a traveler from another Dimension, and that she was an alternate version of me. From my understanding, she was over a hundred years old and stricken with some sort of mysterious malady. She was searching for someone, one of her alternates, to help cure her or find a cure for her. She visited quite often, and even saved the lives of my children when my ex boss Warrant tried to have them assassinated when I kept some important data from him...That is where my kids are, living on Mars, in Bryn's time and world. And thats where I was two weeks ago testing my latest invention. I knew it was unstable, so I wanted to test it there because their medical knowledge is far more vast than ours."

She looked sheepishly at Storm. "It was a teleportation device, and when I tried it, it worked, but it dosed me with a massive amount of radiation before blowing up, taking my arm with it. It was...it was like a watch, and it attached at the wrist." she said, her voice growing quieter. "The doctor...he was a sort of mutant, though his is a race of the same kind, and he gave me a blood transfusion, which he's done before when I got shot up on a mission once. The radiation took most of his mutant traits and melded them with what I already had. I was in a coma for a week, and when I came to I had this arm attached to my body and a whole new set of powers; some that I had never had before, like the strength, and others that I had only small amounts of, like the psychic telepathy among other things. He couldn't get the color of my skin right, though. When he scanned it...my skin's...pretty pale. Transparent, really."

Storm listened intently from the moment Cypher began speaking. She always was a very good listener. Of course, she was also very good when it came to many things that did not include conversation, like fighting, thieving (tho she no longer practiced such things) and flying. Ah, the carefree days when it was only Magneto and the Brotherhood to concern oneself over. Nowadays, Ororo was never quite sure who her enemies were. It was a sad state of affairs.

Apparently, however, things were nigh the same as always for Aniko. She spoke of a time traveler, someone from another dimension, and Storm's immediate thoughts were on Mimic. It amazed the African beauty that so many people could travel in such a way. It had to be some form of magic, a mystical portal that those chosen by the gods alone could find. However, knowing she had met such a person as the one Aniko spoke of permitted her to remain open minded and Storm nodded along with her story.

Hearing about the advance of science in the other world that had saved Cypher not once, but several times brought forth a sigh from Ororo's full lips. She wished Cypher had not had to go through so much heartache, so much violent turmoil and fear. Her children should never have to be left behind in another dimension on another planet in order to find safety. The world, this beautiful planet Earth they resided upon should have offered more solace than it did. The frustration that it did not boiled just below the surface of her calm demeanor.

Ororo smiled faintly in spite of her inner fussing and nodded to Cypher. "I am glad they were able to save your life," Storm replied. "Though I would suggest you use a piece of fruit or something other than yourself when you initiate a trial of your next invention." Storm chuckled slightly, revealing more mirth than she felt. She stifled more of her frustration over current events and patted Aniko's new hand. "It looks wonderful, however. I would not have noticed at first glance. It is a masterpiece of science."

Settling back into her seat again, Ororo looked about her for the first time in a while, noting the restaurant patrons walking past the door to their private room. "I suspect we should not linger long. There are always spies among the people," she said in a ghostly voice. "I fear I am a wanted woman with this government. Not to mention the other dangers that could beset us just for meeting together."
