In times of war and conflict, keeping calm, cooler heads was often the key to victory, and the strong bonds between soldiers, along with an apt leader to hold all those conflicting personalities together when the fight seemed at its bleakest was what was necessary to turn the tides of battle and prevail. Daredevil's New Defenders, as they currently stood, exhibited none of these important qualities. Instead of standing together as a unit, the Defenders fell to pieces as soon as they were given a name, scattering off into the winds, with their fearless leader the first to break formation to chase after his own runaway demons. Steve Rogers, the living legend of the Avengers known as Captain America, leaned against the cold, crackling wall of the underground cellar of the laundromat with his eyes closed and his arms folded stiffly across his star-spangled chest, as Nick Fury and Hawkeye discussed their next plan of action. His helmet was placed on a nearby counter top, his iconic red, white, and blue shield resting proudly against it as he attempted to quietly gather his thoughts on the situation as a whole. The entire city of New York had turned into a playground for the most unstable, cutthroat, and dangerous minds that stained its seedy underbelly, and though Cap and the others currently present had chewed through the leashes forced upon them by the current leaders of SHIELD, the familiar choke of its pull was still remnant against his throat. And now with the revelation of a nuclear threat hiding somewhere in the city, this terrifying game was becoming more and more difficult to maintain the upper-hand. Cap stirred from his thoughts and shifted to a more alert position upon the sound of unsteady footsteps clobbering into the Defenders hideout, only to relax again to find that it was only Fury's insider agent, Quake, holding up a rather ragged looking Night Nurse against her shoulder. “What happened out there?” he asked the pair of them sternly, moving quickly to help Linda get off her feet and onto what had at one point been a folding chair. “You shouldn't have been out in the fray like that, Doctor.”
Night Nurse offered him an incredulous smile with a quirk of her eyebrow. “Oh, just like a certain someone else I know, Cap?” she replied weakly, yet dripping with sarcasm. “I just wanted to be like my hero!”
Steve sighed at this venomous ribbing from the team medic and looked hard at her with a shamed frown, knowing she was correct, but not necessarily wanting to give her that confirmation just yet. There were more important matters to deal with, and arguing was not high up on that list. “As long as you're both safe, that's all that matters at the moment.” He paused and shifted his gaze between the two women. “Quake, your partner...Time Knight, I think? Where...?”“She said she was going to check in with some of the others out in the city. Said she had a better vantage point to find them than me and Quake would,” Linda quickly smiled at Quake with a wink. “But we have supplies. That's the main thing. So...mission success?”Cap nodded. “Mission success. Good work.” He looked directly at Quake with an approving nod. “Very good work. This will be more aid to us than you realize.” Recomposing himself and standing up straight again, Steve addressed the whole group, “The Defenders are running wild and ragged in the streets with no sign of Daredevil for several hours. I think its time we started taking matters into our own hands and locate Elektra's explosive, regardless of whatever limitations have been placed upon us, for the good of our city and for everything that we stand for as Avengers.” He paused for a beat, exchanging a look with each of the Avengers and rogue SHIELD agents present before drawing a breath and continuing, “We will be disobeying direct orders and breaking a lot of regulations that have been placed on all of us. If any of you need to back out...for any reason...now's your chance to do so.”

HAWKEYE Clint remained standing in the middle of the room, clearly unfazed by Linda and Quake's return. He had no interest in talking to one, and the other he had bickered with just before everyone had set out. So far, at least in Clint's mind, this entire thing had been a disaster. In his heroic career, with every team he had been a part of, none of them were quite as dysfunctional as this. Not only were registered heroes working with unregistered heroes, which was proving to be a battle on its own, but certain team members had little grudges amongst themselves, which only added to the confusion. If what was happening on the streets wasn't Hell, this certainly was. At the end of the day, if Daredevil's Defenders were to go up in flames, Clint was more than prepared to find the nuke himself and save the city with or without the Man Without Fear's help. That task in itself was next to impossible, but it was a task the stupid part of his brain was willing to take. The sad part, is with the rest of the Avengers unaccounted for, Cap was bound to be the only ally there to assist him. Even with Captain America's legendary status, he was still only one man. With Clint, that made it two. Two Avengers, versus legions of thugs and gangsters. Legions of thugs and gangsters... And a nuke. Silently, he shook his head, taking his gaze off the map he had been staring at for hours on end. Letting loose a heavy sigh, he rubbed his burning eyes, which were bloodshot red from sleep deprivation. There was no way he'd get the rest he needed... Not until the city was back in safe hands. For all he knew, that day would never come. "Underground, maybe...? The subway would be a possible spot..." He murmured quite audibly, a yawn escaping his lips. "Maybe that's too obvious... If I was a baddie, where would I put a nuke? Well, underground. Dammit... Square one, again..." He ran a hand through his hair, his mask still sitting on the ground where he had thrown it. His quiver and bow leaned against the wall beside it, almost untouched, save for the arrows he used to escape the tower. He stood up straight, stretching his back, which popped a few times. Looking over at Captain America, Quake, and Night Nurse, he listened in on Steve's little speech about taking matters into their own hands. At the notion regarding anyone backing out, Clint just made a disapproving face. "Cap, I signed my fate the moment we took out those guards at the tower." He gave a short nod. "Now... Can we get back to business? Please? I think we can narrow it down to one of four places." He pointed to the red and blue lines on the map. "I'm thinking either the subways, the sewers, or..." he pointed to various areas circled in green. "One of these two buildings. The Empire State Building, or the Oscorp building."He looked up at Cap to make sure he was following. "My thought process, is that they'd want to hide the nuke somewhere out of sight. Somewhere hard to reach and navigate. That's where either the subways or the sewers come in." He said. He scratched his head as he came to his next idea. "On the other end of the spectrum, I was thinking that they'd pick a high building, for around the same reason as they'd move the nuke underground. It'd be hard to reach, and obviously not in plain sight, down on street level somewhere. Now... I picked these two, because... Well..." He gave a pause, huffing. "Look, if anyone's behind a freaking nuke other than Elektra, it'd be Osborn. The dude's bad news. For all we know, they're in it together. So... That puts the Oscorp building on the spectrum. As for the Empire State Building, well... Y'know. King Kong. Big, destructive things seem to be drawn to the Empire State Building."Clint looked at everyone's faces, his eyes narrowing as he looking increasingly embarrassed. "Look, I'm trying! Does anyone else have any better ideas?" It was a safe assumption that Clint either had watched too many monster movies, or he was just desperate in trying to help, as he obviously was very late to the party. Sighing, he rubbed his eyes once more. "Cap, you're in charge... What's the course of action?"

“The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing”
War was hell, a necessary hell that soldiers fought in order to achieve victory for a greater good. Quake had never been a soldier, but she had seen the front lines of battle in her time as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, this situation however was one that changed Quake, made her harder, stronger, fiercer, and in many ways broken her. In the darkness there as always light, even if the darkness felt eternal the light would eventually make its way to the dark. Quake’s body ached right down to her soul, as she carried Linda into the Laundry Mat the weight of Linda’s body pushing up against every wound Quake had sustained and not had time to care for in their battle. She gingerly placed Linda down as Steve Rogers aka captain America went to help her get settled. The immediate release of weight nearly threw Daisy off balance. She stumbled for a moment as Captain America spoke. “What happened out there?” Daisy acknowledged the banter between Night Nurse and Captain as he requested a mission report in Daisy’s mind. She cautiously and painfully pulled of her back pack full of medical supplies and leaned up against the wall as she looked down at the crimson soaked wound she had on her side. Daisy bent down, despite her own pain and pulled out some medical supplies. As she pulled out what she needed and began to dress and stich her own wounds, she spoke in a rather stoic manner to Captain America. “Night Nurse got pinned down by some thugs, we managed to get clear of the situation get to safety, and attend to Night Nurses’ wounds. I sustained some injuries in the process.”Quake finished up working on her side and bandaged up the wound, she then attended to her leg injury, basically just tying a make shift bandage to it, to stop the bleeding and containing the wound, there wasn’t much else she could do with it in this moment. She leaned up against the wall, the weight of the events weighing on Daisy. The truth was she had a great deal of respect and admiration for Captain America, however he was not Fury he didn’t know what Quake had been through to retrieve the Intel she had on the USB. she knew though Cap was a soldier, he understood that war was hell. He told them that the mission was a success and gave them praise; it made Daisy feel good to hear something positive for once, but didn’t change the weight she felt on her shoulders. Everyone though in this situation had a burden to bare and this was hers. Her eyes scanned the people in the room, as they fell on Clint her heart sank. She could tell that he was hurting in ways that she couldn’t identify. Quake could almost feel his pain and agony, but she knew that the mission was more important. If they were to die today though, she needed Clint to know the truth that she didn’t just disappear. She moved over to Clint as she spoke to Captain America her voice clear and firm as she gentle gazed Clint’s hand, hoping he would read the note she had given him and understood she had no control over what had happened. “Cap you and Hawkeye knew me before these events. We’ve served in fights before. You as the Avengers me as SHIELD, We may not have the graces of the powers that be, however innocent lives are at stake. I stood by you both in the past, I stand by you both now, nothing, will change my loyalties to you. Quake placed her SHiELD badge on one of the dryers as crimson blood dripped from it. Showing she was willing to literally give it all up for the cause. “I wont let a single piece of metal stand between me and what is right.”She moved through the laundry mat her movements showed she was in pain and injured, but even in her exhaustion Daisy could not stop and was able to fight. She heard what Clint had to say about the potential location of the bomb and remembered what she had learned from Fury and her Intel she had gathered. Daisy rested a reassuring hand gently on Night Nurse and nodded to her as she then addressed the group leaning up against the wall. “Everything from the maps and Intel I gave Fury on the USB seems to point that the Nuke would be underground in a Subway. I can’t speak for the ones who are not here such as Daredevil and the like. All I can do is say from what I learned in my three weeks of torture and hell while captive, they are underground in the subways and Clint you are definitely onto to something with Osborn being involved.”She motioned the maps and the device with the USB that Fury had left behind. Daisy then drew her attention back to Captain America, noting that Clint was starting to get honorary. “So its up to you Cap, where do we begin?”

Natasha Romanov was no stranger to life-threatening situations, but she was not as prepared as she planned on being for this one. Having had no real interaction with Fury over the last month put her a bit behind on the intelligence she could have gathered as well as in a more compromising position than she would have liked. By now, Natasha would have had the weapon not only pinpointed but also dispatched given how much of a head start she could have had. Instead, someone's personal vendetta against her betrothed kept her from being any real help during this fiasco. When this was over, she owed Nick an explanation. However, to her calculations, she owed little to anyone else except her best efforts from this point forward.
The Widow began making up for her absence as soon as she comprehended the atrocities committed against her. She gathered her own intel on the current situation in Hell's Kitchen, hacking, reading, watching current video surveillance and past all at the same time. She felt mostly up to speed by the time she ventured into the forbidden areas and what she did not know previously was provided once she began knocking a few heads and exploring the once familiar streets. To her mind, Hell's Kitchen - a place she once called home - looked eerily empty and yet maddeningly volatile. The people she usually saw casually filling the sidewalks and bringing life to the troubled urban jungle were replaced with blown out buildings and cars still smoldering with fire. Windows were broken. Stores looted. Homes destroyed. Even the trees that sporadically dotted the landscape seemed to weep at the destruction. It was nothing less than a war zone.
Part of Natasha was saddened by this. The rest of her seethed. She was not angry with SHIELD, nor any of the Superhero teams and her colleagues. No, Natasha did not lay the blame at anyone's feet beyond those who perpetrated these nefarious deeds. Perhaps it was her extraordinarily long lifetime of experience that provided her this clarity of mind and perspective, or perhaps it was because she was part of serval teams and organizations that she knew their perspectives. Whatever her reasons, Natasha did not share the same animosities toward others which the group Fury now met with continued to harbor. No, but she did have something in common with them all: The Widow was here to help.
And helping she was. Natasha entered the laundromat dragging a bloody devil as he hung over her shoulders. She abruptly dropped him on the floor (albeit with a calculated gentleness that resembled nothing of the like) and looked at Cap, seemingly answering a concern he had voiced seconds before she arrived. "This devil needs to eat more vegetables - and hire a new interior decorator - but I believe his allies are yet dependable."
Her stride did not falter as she moved toward the inner circle. Her momentum stopped as she reached a position between Clint and Fury. She nodded at Quake and Night Nurse but did not address them. Fury hovered over the map, but he didn't even look up when she entered. He knew that she would be there. He always knew these things.
"You're late," he said gruffly, his cigar moving with his lips.
"No, I'm not," she replied simply.
This elicited a "hrumph" from Fury but little else. Natasha looked toward Clint. "So you still haven't decided where to look for the bomb?" she asked her friend. Her lip ticked almost imperceptively with mirth while her expression remained serious. "For a man with your talents, you sure have a hard time finding your targets sometimes." Her banter ended as abruptly as it (never quite) began. The spy's eyes lifted to the others. "What do you know?"
{{Modded Fury just a wee bit. Can do more if needed. You guys tell me what you want.}}

Captain America rolled his eyes teasingly with a smirk and a shake of his head, as he folded his arms across his chest. “You know, one of these days, just once, I'd like to be the one following the orders as opposed to making them.” He looked over the map and the circled spots Hawkeye had selected to search for the nuke with a discerning eyes. Clint, Fury, Quake, and me...four of us, four possible locations. But is splitting up the best course of action here? Steve shifted his gaze to those that were currently available to take on such a dangerous mission. Barton was fading fast, though he would be damned if he were to admit that at this point. Fury generally had an ulterior motive or two hidden up his sleeve, but when the situation was dire, he could be considered dependable. And Quake...Cap was concerned about the state she returned to the Defenders HQ in with Night Nurse. Limping and bleeding, a soldier in such a state had no business being out on active duty. To send her out would mean not only a compromised mission, but a potentially dead liability.
So that leaves three...
“You think the most likely place for nuke to be hidden is underground, Clint...so we'll start in the sewers and subway. The pathways that lead throughout the city from below would be the best method to increase the blast radius to cause the most amount of destruction. We need to split up into teams, but with Agent Johnson out of commission as she is, I'll take point on my own in the sewers. Barton, Fury, you two investigate the subway systems. Johnson can run surveillance from base while she recovers from her injuries.”
Cap's planning was interrupted by the rather abrupt entrance by the superspy Avenger, Black Widow, carrying an unconscious, and very worse for wear Daredevil. “Nat...” he greeted, slightly surprised at her sudden appearance, but at the same time was sure was bound to happen regardless. Natasha had a tendency to seamlessly sneak her way in and out of major life-and-death situations, only to be seen when she was ready to strike, much like her namesake.
Steve was about to ask about the devil on her shoulder when Night Nurse cried out suddenly, trying to jump towards him and wincing in pain as soon as any weight was put on her ankle. “Daredevil!! Don't just drop him like that! The hell is wrong with you? He needs medical attention!”
“Calm down, doctor,” Captain America snapped sharply at Linda, focusing fully on Black Widow to brief her. “Sadly, not much. Yet. Only that a mass terrorist threat is imminent in the city and that we've narrowed down the blast point to four possible locations. Perhaps you could enlighten us with your own findings, Nat. Which I'm sure you no doubt already have."

HAWKEYE Clint shrugged and smirked at Cap. "I'd be happy to give you orders, Steve. Only problem, is I'm not much of a leader. Could you imagine me shouting, 'Avengers, Assemble!'? I can't." He mused, proceeding to listen to his plan. He nodded in agreement with everything. It was a lot of ground to cover, but with a full, cohesive unit, it was possible enough. However, when Cap spoke of Daisy being unable to join in, he immediately frowned. Glancing in her direction every once in awhile, he definitely seemed conflicted. Even though he and Daisy weren't really getting along at the moment, he still cared about her enough to recognize how much she wanted to help. Also, he'd never forgive himself if Steve got hurt while by himself down in the sewers of NYC. They needed a full unit. Desperately. He was about to protest when a familiar face burst in... Clint's eyes widened at the sight of Black Widow, but more so at the state of the Man Without Fear. A broken, bloody mess... Not usual adjectives for a guy that practically owned the Kitchen. He would've been much more excited to see his long time friend, especially in this Hellhole, where she could've easily died, but he simply didn't have the energy. He merely scoffed at her remark, running a hand over his face and rubbing his bloodshot eyes. "Yeah... Irony's weird like that... Nice to see you alive and helping out, Nat." He told her. He and her went way back... She was similar to Daisy in the sense that they were both affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D., and to some extent, the Avengers. He couldn't count on one hand how many times he and her fought side-by-side. To be honest, he missed it. When the surprise of seeing Black Widow for the first time in what seemed like forever faded, he turned back to Captain America, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Steve... About Daisy." He began, giving a sigh before beginning. "Look, she's wounded, I know. But I refuse to let you take point alone. It's too dangerous out here. I know her better than most. She's survived stuff you wouldn't even believe. She wants to help, and you know as well as I do that we need all the help we can get. How about you and Fury team up, and I'll take care of Johnson? If anything happens to her, it'll be on me." He was expecting a huge, flaming N-O, but his gut told him that excluding Daisy could have severe consequences. Unless Nat wanted in... Which, if he knew her right, wasn't likely. The Black Widow wasn't prone to sticking around for long.

Just as soon as Daisy had finished with her wounds and was finding her strengthen again. Another S.H.I.E.L.D agent walked in with an extremely injured DareDevil. She looked over DareDevils wounds and saw he wouldn’t die from them and there was ample supplies around for Night Nurse to help him. It was a job best done by someone with her expertise and not Quakes battle medicine she had learned in the field. Quake looked over at Night Nurse and just nodded to her while giving her a look like, are you sure you got this?. Quake immediately knew from the banter taking pace this was the legendary agents and Avenger known as Black Widow she had no personally gotten the chance to work with her, but knew from Fury Natasha Romanov aka Black Widow was a woman not to be taken lightly. As Black widow nodded to her and continued on her conversation with Cap, Hawkeye, and Fury. Quake removed herself form the wall and began to look over the plans. No sooner had Quake walked over then Captain America start to address the group. It had doubts about her physical condition to Quake this was just par for the course. She had been in worse situation and injured far worse then she currently was and made her way out. She knew from a commanding perspective she didn’t look like she could fight, but it was nothing she didn’t fix with the medical supplies she had found. The thing was Captain America, was not her commander despite Quake respecting him enough to let him lead the group, she was under orders from Fury to take out this bomb and help these Avengers get there. Intel and surveillance was easy enough and portable on a mission thanks to the technology she had. Quake was about to speak up to Captain America, something on the lines of I have a great deal of respect for you, but you don’t know me well enough to know that I can’t fight. That wouldn’t be necessary as Clint shocked Quake and opted to have her on his team in order for Captain to not be going alone into battle. Quake thought long and hard before making her statement as she took in the information about the dangers that lied ahead and the words that just passed through everyone’s lips. “Barton’s not wrong, most of my injuries merely needed some medical attention. They are under control, I have been a lot worse and fought a lot more then what we are up against now. I take full responsibility for my injuries. If I get into trouble I know how to get out without compromising the mission.”She paused in her words glance over to Fury, knowing she had his full confidence. Quake stood a lot taller now. She nodded to the members of the newly formed group and spoke. “Besides I got Barton by my side, what can go wrong?”
She smirked at Clint as she then pulled out of her backpack one last piece of tech she had an armband that had the map uploaded on it, so she could track the location of the bombs and the members of the team. Quake looked at the group as she spoke. “I got this piece of tech to help us track down the location of the bomb, as for coms and communication between us. I don’t think we will have that until we all converge on the site of the device. Unless someone brought a com link system with them while they were escaping their perspective locations. So Barton you and I are taking this route here and Captain and Fury your taking this route that leaves you Black Widow. Once you give us your Intel you can decide which route you want to go on…. if you are planning on sticking around that is.”Quake had momentarily taking control of the situation for the pure fact that she knew the desperation of the situation and that they all needed to get a move on it before the time ran out. She wasn’t about to get into a head debate on whether or not she could fight. It was simple they would form teams so no one went alone into this battle. More then likely Fury would stay behind and Natasha would end up with Captain America, that was a better option then everyone going in alone and not knowing where anyone was due to lack of com links.

Natasha watched the interactions within the room and noted the high levels of frustration and doubt among its occupants. Steve had been thrust into a leading role again and looked frazzled while Fury stood over the table and remained largely passive. Daisy was on the defense while Night Nurse got all up in arms over Daredevil. Clint... well, he was being himself which was the only part of this setting that seemed right.
Her eyes cast to Fury when Quake asked her to fill them in on what she knew, but she didn't expect her old friend to know the information she was bringing to the table. His eye met hers and he seemed to be waiting as much as everyone else. Natasha did not nod to him but left his gaze to meet Daisy's. "Splitting up is not in our best interest," she replied. Natasha moved to the map of Manhattan that was spread on the table and waited for Steve and the others to join her.
Pointing at the map, Natasha began to provide the information she knew. "I'd been otherwise occupied these lat few weeks," she told them, not elaborating on the fact that she was imprisoned in another person's head for much of it. "But I was able to pick up on Elektra's trail again yesterday. She isn't using any of the likely suspects. No Oscorp or Empire State Building. This wasn't about making a statement. It was about fulfilling a deal she made with Mephisto."
Natasha let that sink in a little bit before continuing. "That said, she needed a place where the bomb was less likely to be discovered. That leaves out the subway, too." The Widow pointed to two sewage plants in Manhattan. "You were on the right track with sewers. The intel I gathered shows the most likely place is this one." Natasha removed her a finger from the Wastecorps Pumps plant and left her right index finger on the North River Wastewater Treatment Plant. "Elektra was there. I can't tell you where in building the bomb is placed, but that's the location."
She stood, leaving the map on the table as her eyes scanned her allies. "The second reason for not splitting up is that we aren't the only ones after it. I have intel that shows Osborn is aware of the bomb and is looking for it, which means his Thunderbolts will probably be in the fray. Also, SHIELD."
It was news the group was probably far less likely to be expecting. The Widow nodded when Fury looked at her. "Hill was able to convince the government of the imminent danger of the bomb as soon as there was intel to show there were other factions seeking to acquire it. She informed them that if anyone one else got to the bomb before they did that it was quite likely to be moved to a different location, in which case they could not control the casualties. The government would have blood on their hands if they forbid her from moving, so they agreed that the chance was too great to take and approved a force to move in.
"That means there is at least a three-way race to this bomb. If Osborn gets it, God help us. If we meet SHIELD, we could all be in a lot of trouble. We have an advantage, though." She smiled knowing she didn't share her intel with Hill but left breadcrumbs so her team would find it, just in case she failed. "We have a head start."

Captain AmericaSteve had been instinctively waiting for his final decision. With Quake, he would rather not have her on the field for her own good. He had to make a decision fast time was of the essence. His lack of resolve has caused conflict and a team that was not working on all cylinders was only good as the weakest link. He then decides to take point alone, Clint would be better off at a distance if things get out of hand. "We need to focus on the mission at hand. I listened to all of you and finally made a decision. Enough everyone we need to work together. We are heading into the sewers. I'll continue to take the point... only alone. Nat, I need you to take Quake and Clint and assess the situation if needed you will also be able to access security and security protocols or problems we might encounter. Fury was best as our eyes and years, so he will lay back and protect Daredevil, Night nurse, and others. Fury will be here if we get compromised or the base does." Steve saw the lack of morale and needed something to get everyone back on track. He looked to everyone ready for the arguing to continue. He needs to do something quick. He began to speak with distinct authority. "Look we all have are reasons to do the right thing. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. We need trust, this group needs trust, I have faith and trust in all of you. Trust because you are willing to accept the risk, not because it's safe or certain. I need everyone to dig deep, the city, the people are depending on us whether they know it or not." Steve sticks his fist in the air he is ready to fight. Steve kicks the shield up in the air. Steve grabs his shield in mid-air and smiles nodding at the group. He then looks back at Clint and nods. "Let's save the day. Either you are with me or not, time is of the essence. Alright start gathering your gear and getting ready. Time to save the city. Any last minute briefing needs to be done now. Clint, I know you want to say it."

HAWKEYE Hawkeye gave a soft sigh as Steve insisted that he take point alone. He'd argue, but what Steve said, usually went. Still, he was happy that Quake would be fighting by his side. Even after everything that had happened between him and her, she was a valuable ally. Similarly, Steve had concluded that the Widow herself would be following behind as well. He didn't know how Natasha felt about this, but if she cared at all about the city, she'd come and fight. Besides, there weren't many others... Fury was their best chance at guarding their hideout, as Night Nurse certainly couldn't fight, and Daredevil was down for the count. Clint was similar to Steve in the sense that he saw the failing hope of those around him... Nobody really seemed to be all that encouraged, even with Captain America leading the charge, in a way. It wasn't like the man without fear was awake to lead. Unfortunate, considering they were in his neighborhood. However, Steve clearly had a remedy for this, in the form of a morale-boosting speech. Clint shook his head and silently chuckled at this. Captain America definitely had a way with words... One heroic, patriotic guy, he was. Well, when you come from 1940's, WWII-era America, all you can really be is patriotic. In the moment of silence between Captain America's speech and the small team rolling out to begin their mission, it was deathly quiet. Either Cap's speech had done basically nothing, or everyone was so awestruck that they simply couldn't speak. As much as Hawkeye wanted to believe the latter, he had a sneaking suspicion that it was the exact opposite. He decided to fill the silence with his own inspiring words. Well... He hoped they were inspiring, anyways. "Time to make up for three wasted weeks..." He murmured, taking his mask in his hands and slipping it over his face. He then grabbed his quiver, straightening it on his back before taking his bow in his hand. AS Cap said his final words, turning to Clint with his big question, the archer's brows raised in surprise. "Oh...? Really? Well, Cap, I'm just honored." He smirked. Looking around between everyone's faces, he cleared his throat slightly. It had been awhile since he'd done this. "Well... No need to waste anymore time. Avengers, assemble!" He belted out the words, drawing an arrow from the quiver on his back. He loaded it onto the string of his bow, wanting to be ready for anything beyond those doors. Once everything was said and done, he was out. He went along the sidewalk of the building, looking around for a manhole cover. They were plentiful in New York, so hopefully, they wouldn't have to go far. Thankfully, up ahead, one was in plain sight. He sighed in relief. Very little to deal with, in getting into the sewers. He was afraid they'd get in a huge firefight with armed thugs, before they could get underground. Approaching it, he jammed one end of his bow under the cover, using it as a crowbar, as he pried it off slowly. "Alright... You're taking point, right? After you." He said to Steve, his expression serious. He at least knew when to grow up, when there was a job to be done. AS soon as he said this, however, there was a noise from across the street. Coming out from an alleyway, was a single thug with a baseball bat in his hand. He seemed to be holding his head, which bled slightly. "Wha-? Hey... MOTHA FU-!!!" Before he could get his profanity completely past his lips, Hawkeye shot his arrow, which struck just above his shoulder, pinning him to a dumpster just behind him. "Alright... Move faster, please. I've got a bad feeling that help is on the way."

Elektra Natchios was already en route towards her device. It didn't take very long to rescue the Police chief's daughter (a couple to teenagers with cheaply made knockoffs and fright masks. She didn't even have the heart to kill them after taking one of them out with a falling axe kick and scaring the other one into fleeing after severing the nerves he used to grip the shoddy pistol. Where did the Hood find his men? What few there were left would likely find the underground resistance. Rumor was they were led by the Punisher.) and after dropping her off at the station, she was on her way back north west. As she kept running and cartwheeled over a rooftop ledge and onto another, she began chastising herself: She was a fool and she knew it. Damn you, Bullseye, she thought; She was slowed down immensely by the i mproptu electroshock therapy from the master assassin to where he usual stealth approach was no longer an option. Every time she cleared a rooftop she could hear a catcall from down below the chasm. Usually Goblins. "Hey! Wanna leap like dat one more time!?"That particular one got a shuriken to the throat for that remark. Still, she knew full well the Avengers, what few there were actually in this fight, were after it as much as SHIELD would be if they knew it was there. Of course they would, Matthew would've no doubt filled them in by now. Probably asked them to do it in his weakened state. Still, three weeks of making it entirely undetectable to magic, powers, or technology was no small feat. Still, it stuck out like a sore thumb if you were looking right at it and right now she prayed nobody had gotten to its safe spot. Even if her goals and the Avengers' were now the same, she knew deep down that they would shoot at her as much as look at her, with the Widow doing the bulk of the shooting after what happened last month. She heard a low rumble that almost sounded like a hissing cackle and spun like a graceful dancer on the spot. Nothing. Not even her magicks foresaw an attack. She waited a moment to see if the Black Widow would once again come out and blindside her again, or a stray arrow from that blasted archer. Heck even a shield. Nothing. She took a few more steps before her expression changed with realization and she looked even surlier than usual. I'm not in the mood, she thought. She had done his dirty work and fulfilled her end of the bargain. Through a loophole mind you, but nevertheless, it was done. There was no need for a nuke now. Not with innocents. And that, Mephisto, like once before, you will not have. I know you can hear my thoughts. If you do not like this, send whatever you want. Manipulate events so that I die in the attempt to stop this. It doesn't matter. You got what you wanted. And now, I will have mine... She scaled down the building side and dove down through a sewer vent a few kilometers away from the treatment facility. She did not envy having enhanced senses now. It would take fifty showers to remove this grime fully, she thought but down in the depths she went. From one hell and into another. Such was life. "Keeping the Dream alive."

"I told you it'd get uglier before it gets better."
Sometimes, making a tough decision was akin to ripping off a bandaid. Get cold feet, meander your way into it, go too slow; that's when the pain sets in, and the doubt. The key was to not leave any room for that in your mind, to commit so fiercely, so irrevocably, that your only focus is on the road ahead, and not what got you there. As he stood within the dingy basement with the few people left on God's green earth he trusted, he knew that the tough decision turned out to be the right one. The Captain affixed his shield to his forearm. Its weight was familiar and comforting. His helm was tucked against his side. As the rest of his comrades gathered and prepared themselves for this final dash to their quarry, he took a position at the head of the staircase. "One last thing before we head out into the fray," he began, and Steve set his cerulean blue gaze on each individual in the room, "I know it isn't easy -- doing the right thing. If I had it my way, I would have retired a long time ago. I'd be sipping on coffee on a porch somewhere, probably out West, without a care in the world. But we don't get to take breaks, and the fact you're all standing here proves you feel the same way I do. We step through that door, then we get to that bomb; no matter the cost. I don't say this very often, but extreme prejudice is the name of the game tonight -- anyone between us and the target, is an enemy. We only have one shot, and if we waste it, well..."He tapered off, and lifted the helmet up and onto the top of his head. He affixed the buckle beneath his chin. "Let's not think about that right now," he said, nodding. "On me."
Outside, the thug left pinned to the dumpster by Hawkeye's well-placed arrow had a face-to-face introduction with Captain America's shield. His head recoiled from the blow, his unconscious body slumping to the ground as Cap caught the rebounding disc. Affixing it to his arm, Cap glanced into the alley that the thug came from; shadows projected by a street light danced on the opposite wall, threatening reinforcement. Cap nodded. "I hate when you're right, Clint," he quipped. Cap knelt down and grabbed the lid of the sewer, straining only slightly as he pushed up with his legs to pry it free and provide access to the sewer ladder. "Everyone in. Go!"Steve held the manhole as the four vigilante Avengers descended. Looking up as the last one was in, he saw a group of rampaging ne'er-do-wells emerge from the alley and discover their friend. Noticing the Captain, one pointed across at him. "Look, boys!", he yelled, grinning sadistically as he brandished a billy club, "We got a live one! Thousand bucks to whoever gets the shield!"The group began advancing across the street to Cap. He considered taking them on to teach them a lesson in humility, but his better judgement kicked in first; they were running out of time. So without ceremony, he dropped into the manhole below and let the cover fall back down above his head to slow the thugs' advance. Cap slid down the ladder until his feet plopped down onto the damp, mossy concrete floor that graced one of New York's many sewers. The smell was appalling, to say the least. Adjusting his shield on his forearm, Cap looked to Natasha. "North River, right?", he asked, though it was mostly rhetorical. He turned and pointed to a ruddy, worn out map of the sewer system that listed the many cisterns and processing plants each tunnel lead to. He pressed his finger onto one in particular. "Double time."With the map's twisting and turning routes committed to memory, Cap moved from the wall and began leading his team deeper into the tunnels, en route to North River Wastewater Treatment Plant -- and hopefully, the bomb.

The Black Widow was not entirely content with the current party as Quake asserted her readiness when she was obviously more liability than asset in her current state. That aside, however, she could be an asset if she was able to make the trip to the treatment plant and not slow them down. It would be Daisy's ability to overcome injury which determined if she was part of this mission or if she was left behind on the way. Nat would not wait for her, nor coddle her, for it was far too important that they make haste to the bomb.
More came from Cap in the way of something inspiring, but the Widow didn't need it. The others probably appreciated it, though. Then Quake, Barton, and Cap were quickly out with Cap taking point. Natasha held back long enough to nod at Fury, tapping her ear. He knew the drill. They would communicate like they always did, on a secure channel that varied based on upon their own predetermined code. When he nodded in return, she would exit with only one more glance at Daredevil being tended by the Night Nurse. Matt was a survivor. He'd be fine. Somehow he always was.
They exited the building in an attempt to get to the manhole but were briefly held up by someone coming out of the alley. Everyone on the streets was most likely an enemy so Clint quickly took care of the situation nonlethally. As expected, despite Cap mentioning "extreme prejudice" in his speech. She was probably the only one here who would take that to heart. Cap ushered them into the manhole and quickly followed. He had mentioned that she was supposed to take Quake and Clint and assess the situation, but it seemed a moot point as they fled the scene where he apparently left the reinforcements to follow. He passed Natasha to take point again, asking rhetorically if the name of the place was North Point. "Yes," she replied just as rhetorically because he wasn't waiting for her answer.
Cap said "double time" and double time it was. They all took off running through the sewer, moist and smelly as it was. Natasha knew her leathers would need more than one miracle not to smell horrid after this, but that would only be a problem if they were the ones to discover the bomb first and get out of the water treatment plant - and Hell's Kitchen - alive. She took the rear point, allowing Clint to continue to be Daisy's aid and Cap's backup. If anyone approached from behind, the Widow would take care of them with "extreme prejudice." No one would expect anything differently and, she thought, no one would want her to right now, either.
She heard the men's voices behind them and the splashing in the sewers ahead of her as her allies kept pace with Cap. The sounds of the men were distant for now. She would hang back but only slightly so that she could hear better anything coming up behind them, but always keeping her allies within sight.

Hawkeye "If I miss, it means I'm just another dude with a bow. It means I've been fooling myself this whole time. And that's why I never miss." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hawkeye heard the commotion above, but it seemed quicker than normal... Well, quicker than normal, even for Cap. No way Cap would get taken down by a couple of goons. He felt like he wanted to ask, but the mission didn't really give him an opportunity to do that. Time was of the essence, not much time for banter. With no elaboration of what happened above on the street, Cap looked to Nat and confirmed their direction. Of course, Hawkeye wouldn't be Hawkeye without a comment about the smell, "Remind me to invest in a visor for my mask... This smell is making my eyes water..."Funny thing was, Cap's double time was a lot faster than Clint's double time. Not that Clint couldn't keep up, but he was definitely giving it all to keep up.
