Yellowjacket (Hank Pym) 🐝 "Well, let's define life. Heomeostatis, Organization of bodily structure, Metabolism, Physical Growth, Adaptation, Response to Stimuli, and Reproduction. While the exact nature of some of those are different from a carbon-based lifeform, by this measure, Ultron and his offspring are all alive."
Even if he could get much much smaller, the world was still a very different place at 1/72nd his normal size. Something as small and and as fine as a hair hair was still for him like walking through a field of tall grass. There were even a few pebbles, or in larger terms, bits of skin flakes from a recently scratched arm.
He was again flippant about the exact nature of his creation. How much of this was an attempt for humor and how much of it was keeping it a closely guarded secret was an exercise of discretion.
"Of course there's particles with an S. I wouldn't want to be this small forever!"
He then moved from arm to shoulder. Text adapted from Silv.

"Reality is a reference point, not a limitation."

She shrugged at his immediate desire to 'define' life. It was a normal response to any problem posed to a scientist, but it was inevitable that any definition was going to be flawed. And this was where Gabby's possibly unique solution came in. She gave a gentle grin as she replied with a trace of pride evident in her voice. "You define life, and you set limits, which life can always grow beyond. No, I defined it with a general ballpark idea, and then teaching Opus one word that no other computer I know of truly understands.
"Maybe."
Computers use binary. One and zero, yes and no. Everything is an absolute, either something is, or it is not. But when there is room for a two, a grey area in the middle? That doubt is not only a part of a mind as we think of thinking, but is also an essential part of the scientific process too. Opus might not be a scientist, but she could be if she wanted."
She'd had a little help with this during her first few months of university. Not from the professors, they were no closer to true AI than anyone else in the mainstream. No, Gabby had realised the problem wasn't in the artificial side of things, but in her understanding of intelligence. All the variations in the actual definition of it, the lack of any single answer to the question, meant that it wasn't understood. So she'd spoken to a friend in one of her classes who was studying psychology and only taking an AI course as an elective. That had set her down the path to understanding the question enough to answer it finally.
With the miniature figure making its way up her arm to her shoulder, she found an obvious quote jumping into her mind, but was in the right frame of mind to catch herself from saying it immediately, instead reframing it to better fit the situation.
"If giant man has seen further than others, it is only by standing on my shoulders. Sorry, predictable I know. But I doubt I'll ever get another chance to say it."
His costume wasn't that of Giant Man, she knew. But she did know that he had been Giant Man once (especially with Opus' particular liking of that guise of the man she admired most as 'Dr Pym') and she certainly hated that guise of his a lot less than most of the brightly coloured costumes that were out there. But without her own suit's database, she had no idea who 'Yellowjacket' was.
