<----------------------> ~ <----------------------> Natasha smiled at Matt's acquiescence. She knew it wouldn't last long, but every time she or one of her friends could interrupt Daredevil coming to the rescue, the better it would be for him. His body was badly beaten this time and that hand needed more than a minute to heal. She would buy as much time as she could for him if only he would keep to his part of the deal. Matthew asked her if his next visitor was her idea. Again, Natasha only smiled to herself. "You wouldn't believe me if I said no," she replied. Click. ~ <----------------------> ~ <----------------------> Waiting at the front door, Maya took in the sights around her. She knew this part of the Kitchen only too well. Normally, she wouldn't venture to this particular apartment building without a good reason and she supposed this wasn't an exception. A seductive, accented voice on the other end of the phone told her there was an old friend in need of some good company today. Maya didn't suppose she minded. She liked Matt. Sadly, the last time she could remember things nearly getting hot between them, he was with someone else. Maya signed inwardly. She could be his friend. Maya simply wished it didn't take another mutual friend to reach out to her. Matt would have to someday pull his head out of his --- Maya saw a shadow under the door and waited. When he finally opened it seconds later, Maya looked critically (but somehow softly) over her old friend. Bruises. Cuts. Bathrobe. Red pants. She wasn't kidding, Maya thought of her earlier caller. Matt needed some help. "Hello," Maya said quietly. Her lip ticked upward on one side. "Long time, no see."

"Maya,"He might have felt like ten pounds of manure in a two pound bag, but his Radar and senses were still functioning as well as they ever did. He felt a smile creep across his face despite himself. Clever girl. He realized that despite the bathrobe, he was still wearing the lower half of his Daredevil uniform and quickly bowed back and opened the door wide enough to beckon Maya inside. He could not see her, but all the same her body language indicated she was sizing him up. Once the door closed and he beckoned her to follow up the stairs and into the apartment proper, he answered her unspoken comment. "I've looked worse, believe me," That was perfectly true. Matter of fact, she dished out one of those beatings herself when she first thought he - or rather Daredevil (the minute he didn't think it was weird that he referred to himself in the third person was the day he ought to hang up the cowl he made a note to remind himself) - killed her father. He always liked Maya. She was deaf. Handicapped like him. And yet her ability to copy minute details and use her remaining senses to compensate for this was the closest thing he had to someone understanding him since Stick. And Stick was not exactly a heart-to-heart kind of guy. They reached the landing and he made his way back towards the living room and the mini fridge. "Water?" he asked and pulled out a bottle of Montillier, his preferred brand of seltzer. He grabbed a second bottle and motioned for her and whether or not he should toss it or put it back in the fridge.
