HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
It wasn't something that she was overly concerned with. The stakes being glory to their realm was half in jest, but it was something that the thunder likely too much more seriously. It was in his nature. "Agreed."
"Sure, sugah, if y'know a spot that's particularly breathtakin', Ah'm all for it. 'Less it's somethin' that literally steals breath. Ah don't want any encounter with somethin' like that.", she responded when he offered to give a flying tour of his world.
The locals did not seem all too affected by their flight itself. They would have seem as jaded to the idea of it as any New Yorker if not for the fact that many acknowledged Thor's princehood with a bow or a curtsy. Still, it wasn't all too different from a sea of skyward phones.
She half expected another obstacle of some kind, a barrage of arrows from some passing elves or rocks thrown by some hill that turned out to be a giant, maybe some mad scheme from Loki where he finally sprung his trap. Adventure seemed to find you in this place the same way it seemed to back home.

"Reality is a reference point, not a limitation."

Thor considered all the scenery of Asgard for a moment, from the spires of the palace they had started their journey from, all the way to the tops of the mountains scattered across the landscape. There were so many options, he found himself listing them aloud as he considered them all. "Other than the palace you have already seen and its unrivalled views from the heart of the realm, there are unparalleled sights from the various mountains if you seek scenery and people from afar, or doubtless there will be contests of skill and strength taking place at the palace by now. Or if star gazing is what you seek? Then the rainbow bridge permits you to see every star in all the realms, with the right guide. Though there is a part of Midgard I have enjoyed spending time in of late, too. In that which you call the Savage Land."
Naturally he would take her wherever she wished, even if it was to New York for the 'piece of' flat bread foodstuffs that were so popular these days or any of the other perplexing and yet delightful customs and entertainments of the realm. However lost Anne-Marie might have been in Asgardian custom without Thor to guide her, he was just as lost in her world. Only the fact that he was a literal god to many of their world, and an Avenger (which many seemed to hold in higher regard) meant that he was able to get by, for the most part.
"The finest views of the land as a whole, and of the setting sun, are from the peak of that mountain there..." - He pointed with Mjolnir to one of the nearer peaks - "but if you wish to watch people, then we should return to the palace. Or anywhere in any of the realms that your heart desires. As you say on Midgard, your wish is my command."

HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
He mentioned heading to the Savage Land. There was no way that the Asgardian could have known her own history in that place.
She had been depowered. A mind that was not hers had recently left her head. She was alone for the first time in a long time in an unfamiliar place. It was there she encountered Magneto. It was a place that reminded her of a different ex than even a deck of cards would.
Still, this entire experience was in a way meant to distance herself from such thing. Even if it wasn't a clean break, even if it wasn't something that lasts, for now and for this moment, it wasn't about the past.
Rogue was a much stronger person now than she was. She could handle the memories of a place like that.
"We started this here in your realm." It was obvious from the way she said this, was not her normal phrasing. "We can certainly go to mine - to Earth."
It was not all too difficult for the pair to get to the Savage Land. It was just a hop, skip, and a jump across the bifrost. In a way, both Thor's domain and this one were places out of time, at least from the X-woman's perspective. It was all just a matter of degree. They'd trade dragons for dinosaurs.

It was clear from her reaction that he had missed something, either about the place, about her, or just about how he had spoken. But it didn't seem to be so bad, since she accepted the offer with only the slight hesitation. The Thunderer knew better than to ask her reasons for that hint of reluctance, but hoped that he'd be able to find out the problem before the next time, assuming there would be one. If it meant avoiding causing inadvertent offence then there were several he could talk to who might know. Was Wolverine back to normal again from that bother with Apocalypse? Better to not ask about that right now either...
As they took the Bifrost to the Savage Land, they emerged at one of his favourite spots. A hill near the foot of a mountain, and a scattering of enormous trees, onto the branches of one of these they stepped. Before them was some jungle, open plains to one side, and behind them a mountain which formed part of the borders of this land that time forgot, as he'd heard it called.
"Behold. I have spent many hours just watching the wilds here, nature at its finest unspoiled by intervention of man. I favour sitting and observing, though if you have a preference for anything else, I would gladly vary my routine."

HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
The hot and sticky humidity of the Savage Land was a sudden change when they descended from the bifrost bridge between his world and hers.
The Great Thunderer commented that the emerald greens and azure blues of the jungle plants that stretched above them and the meandering waters that flowed below them were untouched by the sullying hands of man.
"But not lizard men."
Rogue pointed to a tell-tale hollowed out fruit similar to a rambutan attached to a tree that didn't bear it, which was painted in a characteristic dark blue dye. It was a local version of a no tresspassing sign, routinely put up by lizard man patrols.
It could be that they weren't here the last time Thor visited, having been pushed into a new area by some encroaching warlord or supervillain. It wouldn't be exactly abnormal in the Savage Land. Perhaps they knew of Thor but kept their distance because of his evident power.
The X-woman kept her eyes peeled. She did not take flight. It wasn't for a lack of ability in this strange place, more she didn't want to seem overly hostile if she didn't need to.
Suddenly, there was the blare of a warhorn. But, the visitors were not attacked. There was some loud commotion in the distance. Some birds took flight for safety.

A confused look crossed the brow of the Prince of Asgard. "Lizard Men?..." This only intensified when he saw that which Rogue indicated as evidence of her observation. He looked at it closely, taking a moment to examine it with far more care than might be expected of someone who had been known to destroy entire mountains because they were in his way and he was in a hurry.
"Never have I seen such a thing around here. It seems you are familiar with it though, since you know its source. I shall take your lead then, whether you desire a hunt or to return to Asgard for one last horn of mead before the Rainbow Bridge returns you to your most esteemed hall of learning. I know not if these 'lizard men' are your friend or your foe, but I remain at your command, milady."
How. Just how did the Midgardians manage to find a tiny corner of their realm, nigh unreachable by any measure of their people, and even then start marking it as territory? If he saw a Starkbucks coffee shop anywhere in the Savage Land, he had half a mind to smite it on principle.

HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
The god of thunder asked about the status of the lizard men.
"They usually ain't too friendly, course Ah wouldn't be too thrilled with one of them showing up in my backyard outta nowhere."
Rogue thought for a moment about whether to avoid the Lizard men or return to Asgard. They had only just arrived, but she didn't really want to punch down either, should the lizard men attack.
Suddenly, there was a rustling in the clearing.
Rogue gave a warning in case it was anything but an animal. "If y'all thinkin' of trying anything, we're both superheroes."
Rogue readied her fists.
From the dense forests came two humans. Each was as foreign to this place as the mutant and the god. They each wore a yellow hard hats and silver jumpsuits. The name on both "ROXXON" would probably be more familiar to Thor's ally Iron Man than either of the heroes currently seeing it.
"You have to help us! They're after us!", they pleaded. Template adapted from Silv.

So they were troublesome, but not to an 'avoid them at all costs' sort of level? That put them in the same category as... just about every organisation that he had done battle with as an Avenger. And probably around the same for the X-men, he assumed. Though they'd both fought Apocalypse in the past, so there was a little wiggle room in that analogy, it seemed. Just as he was about to ask her for more details on what she knew of them, then came the rustling. The prince of Asgard adopted a defensive posture, ready for any threat that might emerge from the undergrowth, but when two humans emerged, dressed not in the tribal attire he had seen at a distance a few times on previous visits, but in attire from the Western countries' style, it caught him slightly by surprise. Surprise lasted only very briefly, of course. Thor had seen much in his time on Midgard, and this was not his first encounter with the agents of Roxxon. ** "Whoever pursues you, we shall protect you as long as you are worthy of it. Though my last encounter with your diggers and miners gave me little hope in that respect. Speak then, who seeks you, and why?"**He first met them back in Avengers Vol 1 #144, released way back in 1975

HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
"The company made a little village up here so we could work in the mines. And—"
"In the middle of a giant nature preserve.", Rogue added, interrupting.
The miner kind of brushed that little fact over, continuing where he left off.
"Crocodiles attacked us, but not crocodile-crocodiles they were . . . they were . . ."
Speak of the diabloceratops, and it shall appear. Three of these so-called crocodiles appeared from the foliage, a bit to their left. Two were armed with crude spears and one had a mighty club.
All three had dark green scales. They were tall and broad-shouldered. They had short and stubby snouts with protruding teeth. Great tails whipped back and forth. The one with the club had a horned crest across his forehead. All three practiced the strange sort of monster modesty found with Fin Fang Foom, dressing in tan straps of cloth and leather.
"Ssslaughter!", one of them yelled, waiving the club.
Rogue took the initiative, taking each of the miners by the scruff of their shirts and placing them on a tall branch.

So they were indeed digging in the dirt for their scraps of ore, in somewhere that Anne-Marie seemed to consider above such treatment? Thor didn't know what 'nature preserve' meant, but given the context it seemed unlikely to favour these... scavengers at best, and thieves at worst. Even in Asgard, few were aware of Thor's biological mother being the Elder Goddess Gaia, but he felt little desire to explain why his estimation of these humans was falling ever lower with their mistreatment of his mother's figurative and sort of literal physical form.
With the entry of these lizard men though, the contemplating of his stance on illegal mining had to be put on pause. Rogue got the no doubt ordinary mortals to relative safety, while Thor turned to greet the newcomers, trusting in the All-Speak to clarify any words which these scaled men lacked any concept of.
"I understand they, and no doubt others, have wronged you. Show me to where they are gathered, and I shall see things made right. All who are here against their laws - the word of their tribal elders - I will remove."

HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
The lizardmen seemed annoyed by Anna Marie taking their enemies out of reach. They gnashed their teeth and made a show of anger before Thor spoke to them. They did not seem to react as if someone speaking their tongue was unusual or frightening. It could be the way the All-Speak worked, or that they knew a handful of fleshy non-scaled creatures who knew it.
The lizard men argued amongst themselves.
"How can you? You have no clawsss!", the one with the club protested. "He hasss a club too! A great one!", the other said pointing to Mjolnir.
Rogue flew over to the assembled reptiles, and Thor.
One of the Roxxon miners shouted from the treetops. "Those things are going to kill innocent people!"
Rogue responded.
"We're not going to let that happen. I'm with the X-men; he's with the Avengers. We ain't lettin' people get hurt don't needa be."
The other miner spouted out.
"I thought I recognized that symbol! She's a damn mutie!"
"Best not to burn every bridge y'can when in the middle of Antarctica, sugah."
Not having context for the other conversation, the lizard men talked amongst themselves and decided to accept Thor's aid.

Thor was fairly sure the mortal laws had something about the Savage Land in them, and it took only a few moments with his commcard to check the Avengers files on U.N. international laws to confirm it. At this point he heard the miners' calling down their fears and responded by calling back to them. "Really? Where will they find them? The U.N. declared commercial exploitation of this place to be illegal, and you have just a minute ago told us your people are here to commercially exploit the land. I will... investigate."
He didn't miss the 'mutie' comment, but Rogue had fired back her own response to it, and seemed content that the insult had been addressed, otherwise he would have felt honour bound to defend her reputation against even a small sleight such as that.
With the directions of the Lizard men, he was soon able to locate the Roxxon mines and their village, leaving Thor to wait just inside the treeline to consider how to pass judgement on these wrongdoers without any loss of life. Fortunately one solution was easy enough to arrange without anyone facing real risk of death. Flourishing Mjolnir in his hand, he held it aloft to the few clouds in the sky. Within moments they were thickening, and gale force winds began to howl along with a torrential downpour of truly epic proportions. Of course, the vast amounts of water were being channelled by the winds right into the entrance of the mine, and would not relent until the mine was completely flooded. He'd come back in a few hours to check on how that was going, and possibly redirect some winds from the more frigid parts of the continent in order to freeze the water solid as well.
Once this was done, he turned around to the Lizard men in the completely tranquil treeline, and grinned. "There. The mines will fill with water, the people will escape and take refuge from the weather in their buildings. By the time the storm fades, I will be here with the authorities to take them away forever, and I shall seal their mines so they cannot possibly return. I trust this suffices?" He knew SHIELD would be able to get there fairly quickly, and no doubt would be happy to take them all into custody once the storm abated. As for the two captives they already had? They could be handed straight over, since he could create a portal to any base SHIELD chose to name.

HEY, SUGAH! ⦻
Rogue was used to sudden storms. She was used to wailing winds and blinding blizzards coming suddenly from a still and bright sky. She was teammates with a woman who brought both and more.
She was also used to the bombast of it, not it words in this particular moment but there was certainly a body language. It was in the way he lifted his hammer as he called forth the elements. It was such a familiar thing.
Rogue meanwhile dealt with part of the issue in a manner that Thor himself might if he were in a mood closer to his own ally, the Incredible Hulk. Around were monstrous machines as large as some creatures of old myth. These giant yellow beasts had wheels taller than men and a great flattop to haul bounty on them. Of course, they had Roxxon's name all over them.
The X-woman lifted them with her superhuman strength. She didn't smash them. Instead, she merely laid them on their sides. Their weight of about five hundred tons means it would take a lot to get them going again even if she didn't damage the equipment.
"Guess they thought nobody would ever notice, putting their logo in the middle of this place."
Thor asked the lizardmen if they were satisfied with the solution. They huddled and agreed that they were.
"Well, that was fun.", Rogue exclaimed as the miners and their bosses began to exit their burrows.

Their arrogance in displaying their logo so openly was indeed impressive in its own way, but Thor had a more pessimistic suspicion of what may well have been at work behind the scenes.
"Hopefully it is as you say. But those who seek riches often pay those who should be watching to watch less diligently than they should. That is why I will be returning myself to make sure things go as they should. Now, my communicator says that SHIELD are on their way, shall we wait here for them to collect all these villains, or would you prefer a more pleasant few minutes, milady?"
He had little interest in the fine points of Midgardian law enforcement, but his understanding of their 'due process' was that with the multiple machines for digging, the extensive mines, and no doubt some raw, extracted ore stored in the buildings, there would be sufficient evidence to send them to a deep, dark dungeon indeed. Hopefully they had not already moved too much of the metal away from the location though. Black Panther and his people considered it highly important, and SHIELD also seemed keen on the substance. Just about everyone did in fact, reinforcing his intent to check upon the site at a later date.

Thor was surprisingly cynical about SHIELD's relationship with Roxxon. Not that either had particularly clean hands. She needed to remember that not only way he an Avenger, in spite of his bravado, he was millennia old. He'd seen a lot of bad people.
"I can see why stayin' around might be important to you. It's just with the X-men, it's usually a bad idea to hang out when the government comes callin'. Lotta them boys are the ask questions later types."
Rogue thought.
"Still, ain't a bad idea to come back around. Tyin' up loose ends ain't ever a bad idea. Lotta heroes don't and it can be a bit hard on those hearts and minds."
Heroes, at least in New York, certainly had a reputation of leaving after the fight with the supervillain while others are left to pick up their pieces of their neighborhood. It didn't take much to help with clean up.
"Plus, might be fun to do a sweep and make sure some straggler didn't get away. Could fly out in semicircles and meet in the middle."
