<p>So. I was thinking about this quite recently and I just wanted to bring it up. I think it would be cool if key locations/places had biographies/summaries, i.e the X-Mansion. This way, people know and learn what they are walking into. Just a summary of the place with pictures, history, and possibly even residents/staff. This would really add to our universe in the sense that it would give more depth, more detail. Key locations would include, but not be limited to. - Xavier's Institute
- Avengers Mansion
- SHIELD Helicarrier
- Asgard
- Ryker's Island
- Genosha
- Hell's Kitchen
- Daily Bugle
- Knowhere
- Latveria
- Baxter Building
- Olympus
- Madripoor
- Wakanda
These are just examples of what locations could fit under this category as key and can easily deserve a simple summary. I'll post an example in another post when I can.

(Name of Location) (Picture of Location)
(Motto, optional/if applies) "Mutatis Mutandis (changing only those things that need to be changed)"
(Summary/History of Location) Located at 1407 Graymalkin Lane, just outside of Salem Center, Westchester County, New York, the original ancestral Xavier estate was built in the late 1700s. Currently owned by Professor Charles Xavier, after the death of his mother, this sprawling mansion was erected near Breakstone Lake and serves as a school, as well as the secret headquarters of elite teams of mutants, primarily the X-Men.
DESIGN: (if applicable, pictures/description of the location)
INTERIOR(if applicable)-
Combining 17th century fashion with modern technology, Xavier's school is true to it's design, housing several large student dorms and classrooms. But most interesting is that of the bunker beneath the school.
Danger Room- A high-tech, holographic training room designed to train mutants with extraordinary powers housed beneath the school.
War Room- A meeting place for the X-Men. The War Room features a large round table and cushioned chairs. Often used for briefing, mission planning, and meeting.
Hangar- The hanger that houses all the X-men's aerial transports but most famously the Blackbird, hidden beneath the retractable basketball court.
Cerebra Chamber- The mutant -locating, telepathic-enhancing, supercomputer is housed in it's very own large chamber. Often used by Charles Xavier and the telepaths of the X-Men.
Labs- Beneath the institute lies two labs, Medical & Research. Often inhabited by Dr. Hank McCoy, the labs feature a holographic program known as RALPH in the circumstance that no other staff is available.
Holding Cells- The cells that contain the villains the X-Men thinkare too dangerous to let free.
EXTERIOR/GROUNDS(if applicable)-
The grounds of the Xavier Estate remain largely unchanged. Located outside of Salem Center, the grounds have large open fields, surrounding woods, and a beach on Breakstone Lake.
Cemetery- This houses all the heroic mutants that have passed on. Whether they died of natural causes or in battle, you can find them here.
Courtyard- Located within the courtyard is a retractable basketball court , swimming pool, other recreational activities, and statues, the basketball court is the outlet above the hangars, and a alarm will sound when the basketball court is opening due to a departure or arrival, advising all students to leave the area.
Boathouse- On the edge of Breakstone Lake, a boathouse was constructed. Although the mansion and underground bunker was significantly advanced, the boathouse was simple in design. Used as the newlywed home of Cyclops and Phoenix, the boathouse only contained communication technology, linking it to the mansion and bunker. It is unknown if this structure is still standing
Residents- (canons and OCs who reside here , if applicable): Prof. Charles Xavier (headmaster), James "Logan" Howlett (X-Men,teacher), Ororo Munroe (X-Men, teacher), Jean Grey-Summers (teacher), Henry "Hank" McCoy (teacher), and several more.

So as in an area where people could post for 'at/in' the mansion? Or a directory for the mansion with all of those sub-areas located within the mansion where people can post? One I think is viable, each and every one might be a bit much.

Somewhat, yeah. If it were to act like you said (i.e Subboards) it wouldn't be as specific. It'd be slimmed up into like the school, the bunker, and the grounds if it were to take that sort of path. But the way I imagined it is more of a directory/outlook for posting, and well just to add more to the site.
I'll leave it up to the staff to decide what they want to do with this if they approve it though. Obviously they should choose the path it takes.

Seeing as how even in the comics things as basic as the layout of the Baxter Building etc. are up to the writer/artist, some sort of in-site definitive layout could help with spacial flow in posts.

Sorry, I have just not had a chance to respond. I like the idea and will figure out how best to implement it for the site! Gimme a week to really have time to dig into this. I have some prom dresses to make for clients before the 18th!

The requested biographies are in progress HERE. They will continue being improved upon with more locations added as I can make time to do so! Only staff will have posting access to this board so that less confusion will become of many members differing ideas of the topic at hand! If you have suggestions to be added to the "biographies" (as in what other things you might enjoy seeing added to the list of things already there) you may post your ideas here. Please understand that not all ideas will make it into the biographies. It will depend largely on if the request is initially possible and then if it is sustainable.

What do you mean? Can you give me an example of what you'd like to see for "minor characters?" Locations or...?

Well, in general, the location databases are more for "team headquarters" type of places than individual homes or locations. Family trees and minor locations probably aren't going to be placed in this logistics board. However, the idea that you'd want something for them is intriguing. I don't know how to implement it but if YOU have an idea for it, let's chat!

Superchick, I was wondering about Xaviers Academy for Gifted Youngsters, considering its an X Men base and a widely used location foe mutant based characters.

It's definitely on my list of places to add to the logistics board. I just haven't been able to find the time yet this year to do it. Amazingly - and surprisingly! - my work load has been horrendous! I will get to it as soon as I can. Promise!
EDIT: I did place the schematics map on a new page in the Logistics board to aid in your endeavors until I can get to the full page mock up!
