Emma: "I'll assume that you left the White Queen spot off of the list because you were reserving it for me. I will happily take my chair back, darling. You need someone with intelligence watching over things anyway. Oh, and anyone claiming that White King position should know who is really in charge of that side of the table." So yeah, Emma Frost is in

-------------------- Fury remembered the politics alright. He considered them the war on the homefront. He never gave jack-shit about what the suits wanted and did whatever he could to make sure things went the right way. To him, that was his responsibility as Director of SHIELD. Maria's approach seemed to be to do whatever the suits wanted. This was the plan that was going to let a gang war happen and they were simply going to clear out New York City to be the arena. They were literally handing a city to terrorists, and to hell with any of the civilians. To hell with their rights and to hell with their homes, their jobs. Their entire lives that they painstakingly built up for years. All of it gone in an instant. And for what? So they could play 'Guess who's holding the leash now" with the Avengers? This was the wrong play and Maria only seemed like she wanted it to happen. He had expected better but it seemed her ambition had gone completely to her head.
"Well, it seems you have a long and busy time ahead of you. I'll leave you to it then." Fury said and he turned and started walking off. She'd had every chance to drop him a clue that there was more going on if she didn't want to say it outright, but she didn't. So either that was the plan or her ego didn't want to share with her predecessor. But that would be a mistake, because now he had to operate on what he knew. Unfortunately he didn't have the man power to make a big play and prevent this Hell from happening. He'd have to just start doing what he could with what he had. Back on the front lines, back in the trenches. Just like the "good" ol' days. Luckily, his first pick to join him was one of the few still alive from back then. It would take time, but he'd make sure all the proper players got back in this game. One way or another.

-------------------- "Just an informed citizen passing on what he heard." Nick responded with a shrug. Not that he expected Maria to buy that, but he didn't care. He only hid his involvement in things if he needed to. Sometimes, though, things needed to get done no matter what rules were in place. Maria talked about SHIELD's side of the information which he was already aware of and then attempted to berate him. Her mannerisms were all about trying to be the boss and her words supported that. Fury didn't bother with the show. He leaned against the picnic table puffing his cigar, completely casual. Yet this did nothing to diminish his aura of authority. Still, he was the retired one and she was the Director. Even if she shared the role, the rules said she was the boss. Fury wasn't here to challenge that.
"Who said anything about challenging your call? I simply asked you what your play was after getting information about a bomb." Fury said. Then he smiled slightly, "On the other hand though, you should know by now that I have the balls to try anything. Nothing wrong with an evacuation though, by all means go ahead with that." he added. Nick puffed the cigar again.
"Of course, then there's always the stubborn ones who refuse to leave their homes even while in the middle of a warzone. And simply removing the citizens doesn't solve the problem of a gang-war or a bomb." Fury said through the smoke, "So while evacuation is all well and good, what's the plan after that? Because there will still be civilians in there and a lot of angry and violent people with guns finding themselves with plenty of empty space to move around in." he said.

-------------------- Daredevil attempted to call him on dodging a question. While it was true that Fury liked having information, he also understood the importance of compartmentalization. It wasn't always the best course of action to share every detail. Doing so could bite you in the ass down the road. Information leaks were a bitch. Not that this had any actual baring on the current situation. Really, Fury had just wanted everyone to shut-up before he shared. After his cut in to the arguments, only a few spoke up again after Daredevil. Not arguing though, and sounding like they were actually on the same damn page. Finally, maybe they'd actually start listening instead of complaining.
"Well, now it sounds like I came to the right place." Fury said with a puff of his cigar, "And you're in luck, Santa Fury brought goodies." he added. Fury tossed the bags he had brought in onto a table and started opening them up. He continued talking as he went through them.
"Okay, first off: the gangs got their hands on hidden SHIELD caches around the city. I'm still working on how they found out about them, but I'm guessing the hidden heads are the only ones who know at this point." he said. The last part was a lie, but things would go more smoothly if they didn't know who was behind this whole mess at this moment. From one of the bags he pulled out some medical supplies and a map, which he rolled out on the table, "Second: I figured you'd be beat up, so I grabbed some stuff to try and help in the now. As for getting more, I marked this map with locations that still have supplies, accurate as of this morning. I've marked them all in green and written ratings based on supplies vs defenses. Your best bet is likely Yinsen Memorial on ninth in Chelsea. It seems to have been designated a back up supply so it's still well stocked and the defenses are what have been deemed minimum necessary. Should be easy enough for someone in this lot to deal with, and I'll even loan you Quake to help out. If someone else thinks they see a better target, though, feel free to speak up." he told them. He stepped back to his bags to let anyone who wanted to take a gander at the map.
"Brought some toys if anyone wants a piece too. ICER guns, non lethal. Good for dropping your enemies without worrying about moral backlash." he informed, then moved on again, "Okay, as for the nuke, I don't know where it is but I do know a lot of where it isn't. Got a few ideas to check out. And you're right, running some interference is a wise play. The 'Pimps' are marked on the map in red, that's where they're holed up right now. Everyone but Negative is on there, didn't manage to lock him down. We hit those spots and we'll pull attention off of the civilians and off the bomb squad. Okay, Quake and those looking to do the meds run, get moving. Quake knows the deal, so follow her lead. The rest of us are gonna prep attack plans." he said.

-------------------- He asks them if they want to save the city or whine and they all start whining. Fantastic. Really puts their priorities in perspective. Bunch of damned kids who shouldn't even be here. Bickering over hurt feelings in the middle of a warzone. Though shit, because guess what? War wasn't fair. When the guy next to you is detonated by a shell and you're covered in his entrails, you haven't got time to complain about how unfair it is. You move forward and hope you can prevent the next guy from taking one too. Stopping to bitch about it just gets everyone killed. Well, there was one Hell of a shell coming down and Fury didn't have time to coddle peoples feelings. Especially when they were ignorant to how war actually worked. He didn't blame them for their ignorance on that, they shouldn't have to know. But he had to deal in facts, and the fact was they were here now and needed to deal with it. To be frank, Fury had half a mind to just walk out. His mission was the bomb. He'd certainly prefer it if he could get some assistance with it, but he didn't need an uncooperative group he had to babysit to make sure they were doing their jobs. What stopped him was that at least a couple of them actually wanted to hear what he had to say. So he had to weigh what would be his best attempt to get them to shut up and do the job and the time that would take versus going on alone and doing it himself. Ultimately it warranted one attempt, but if they keep arguing then he'd have to just leave them behind.
"Enough!" he growled while removing his cigar, focusing primarily on the complainers, "If you all want to keep whining, then fine, but I would have thought you'd be more interested in the saving the city bit. None of you were ordered to be here, you stayed of your own free will. So don't waste my time bitching about the lack of backup you were never promised to begin with. You don't like how SHIELD is handling things? Take it up with Hill, I'm not in charge of it nor is this how I would have played things. You don't like how the Avengers are handling things? Take it up with Stark. But also maybe keep in mind that wars have more then one battlefield and just because you can't see a guy next to you doesn't mean he isn't taking action, or even inaction, to win it." Fury told them. He didn't expect to them to know the inner workings of the politics going on around them. Did it suck? You bet it sucked. But their where other battles and sometimes you had to gauge how much, or even how little, of your forces you devoted to something to make sure you didn't lose in the bigger picture. It was never an easy call to make, but sometimes it was necessary.
"I don't give a damn what you think of me, hate me all you want. All I care about is getting the job done. The gangs aren't even the main problem right now. Black Widow and I have been trying to track down a nuke that's in the city somewhere. Now if we could all just focus on that instead, I'd be perfectly happy to give all of you a few minutes to just scream at me once we're safe from the threat of being atomized. If you'd rather continue debating superhero ethics and the implied responsibility of those who volunteer for it, I'd be more than happy to leave you to it and get on with the real work." Fury stated. Either way, this mission went on from this point, with or without their help. He figured he might at least have some volunteers and more people to work with then when he started, but it was still up to them. Fury put the cigar back into his mouth.

-------------------- "Is that so?" Fury replied. That was what his intel had said about the plan but he had been hoping it wasn't the case. Apparently the days when SHIELD got it's hands dirty and actually did it's job of dealing with situations like this were gone. The days when they actually fought the battle and actually acted like heroes. Instead, while New York City was falling to pieces, they were sitting on the sidelines. He really hoped there was a plan here he was actually missing. He really hoped this wasn't going the way he thought it might be. Fury puffed on his cigar a moment. Hill tried to give him nothing, but the fact she didn't know anything about the bomb at all told him a lot about what was going through her head. Or that she was trying to bullshit him, but he'd play along.
"Nuclear. Hidden somewhere in the city. It was somehow made untraceable even by Stark tech." Fury told her. In his mind he weighed the pros and cons of releasing too much information to Hill. Pulling agents out and leaving the city in a state of chaos was not how one defended the people. Hard to be the shield when you weren't in front of the attack. What exactly was the endgame in this scenario? Let the criminals have the city? They should be stopping these criminals in their tracks. There were all sorts of red flags going up over this. Still, the looming threat far exceeded the potential issue of not releasing information so he opted to tell her.
"It was brought in by Elektra Natchios. Might want to keep an eye out for the woman." Fury told her, "So you've got a nuclear bomb in the middle of an inevitable war-zone. What's your play now, Director?" he asked. He wanted to see what Hill's response would be. What direction would she lead SHIELD in during a major crisis like this?

-------------------- Bottom of Avenger's Tower
While the group was focused on Cap and Hawkeye, from behind the van appeared a man, cigar in mouth and two handguns in each hand. The shots rang out in quick succession, and hit with accuracy that even Hawkeye and Captain America could appreciate. In a matter of a seconds you could count on one hand, Nick Fury had shown why he had been the SHIELD agent in his day and that he hadn't lost a step. The twenty aggressive agents were on the ground, an odd blue rash around the impact zones that were already starting to fade. Fury dropped the clips and holstered the guns. He pulled the cigar from his mouth.
"ICER guns. Non-lethal, they'll wake up in an hour or so." Fury told the Avengers. He turned to the four loyal-to-the-cause boys who had dropped their weapons, "Take care of them and delay the report as long as you can. I want to have our Avenger friends here hidden in the thick of it before Hill finds out." he told them. Getting the orders from Nick Fury seemed to make them more confident in their choice to drop their guns. They grouped up and started taking control of the situation. Fury turned to Cap and Hawkeye again.
"Van. Now." he ordered, then without waiting for them he hopped into the driver's seat and started it up, "Don't take forever, we still have another stop to make..."
*****************************
After picking up Quake, Fury brought the group to the hideout where the resistance was holed up. This ragtag bunch were the best thing going for the city right now. Fury carried two large travel bags as he walked in. They walked in through the secret doorway, to be greeted by Daredevil sounding rather upset.
"Nice to see you too." Fury replied. Quake stepped forward and attempted to ease the tension in the room. Fury let her have at it, though he was less worried about opinion and more worried about action. In the meantime he took a quick eyeball surveillance as to the condition of the heroes who were here. They were beat to hell, but could be worse. Well, he'd won wars with less than this.
"Well put, kid." Fury said, dropping his bags and returning to the conversation, "So do you want to whine or do you want to save the city?" he asked the group, specifically focusing on the angry toned Daredevil, while taking a puff from his cigar.
-------------------- OOC: Playing Fury as requested. Since Quake's post included Cap and Hawkeye, I figured I'd just catch everyone up. If there is issue with this, let me know.

The Mind control breaking he's talking about is for Wolverine. Breaking the brainwashing of Apocalypse. Xavier is signed up there he will be working the telepathy. Arianna would likely be there more because he kind of took her under his wing and there's a connection.

Hello, Magik player here to get in on this So Belasco is not Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo, Magik is, but Limbo is currently unstable because of her messy revival so he could easily be making a push for taking it over again. The lack of stability can be what results in them being pulled in too. They'd be walking into a warzone.
