"That's the sound of the fourth wall breaking."

Genosha. The land of promise, opportunity, and love for mutants. Crumbled twice over now under the feet of both Ultron and Apocalypse. Most of the mutants here have died or made it back to the mainland. Many have theories on why the American government had done nothing to help these poor people. Some said that it was to get them back in America. Some said it was to starve them out of resources. Very few had made their home in the rubble of this once beautiful mutant metropolis. The dust has long settled on the attack from the multitude of villains from this place. There was one who resided underneath the rubble, in his own conclave of bio-attachable metal. Mister Sinister Sinister sits among his many clones, one of which tried to swap with that of an alien of sorts. Their DNA almost identical to his. Seems a thing that would be quite terrifying, to say the least. If they didn't make clones of themselves on the regular, that is. The best thing that he had going for him in this moment was that the man entering the atmosphere of Genosha also didn't want to deal with Sinister. The two would almost certainly enter in discourse before a fight. Being said, he would take over the mind of a clone and send it to the surface to meet with the man. Hopefully, this went exactly how it needed to.

"As a boy, I believed. As a boy, I turned my back on God forever." Genosha.Home, in a word -- his heart, one might argue. It was the center of his ideals, and the physical manifestation of his hopes and dreams for Mutantkind. It represented far more than just his desire for freedom, but also his desire for true unity, a land where all would be fostered and encouraged to reach their true potential. One day, Erik dreamed that they could be independent of his guidance and allowed to blossom in peace. One day, but not any time soon. Not while his dreams had obstacles.Genosha.Now, trodden upon. Efforts from Lorna fell flat; with a sheer lack of support from the outside, and no nations behind their backs, Genosha was doomed to fail in the wake of Ultron's devastation. Even with his resources and technology, there was little Magneto could hope to do in the short term for Genosha's safety. With its infrastructure compromised, many surviving mutant residents fled to the mainland to find refuge on America's east coast, in the rebuilt District X of New York. A trap for the feeble-minded, no doubt.Of all the people to seize the opportunity, Magneto cursed that it had to be him. Not just any adversary, but one that made Magneto's skin crawl simply being in the man's presence. Nathaniel Essex.Magneto hovered in the clearing above the small alcove when Sinister emerged from within. "Sinister," he began, crossing his arms over his chest. His blackened cape rolled with the blowing wind in Genosha's skies. "Dare I ask why you taint my home with your footsteps?"

Mister Sinister "What a Sinister turn of events this was, eh?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sinister would grin as his namesake with the insult of his presence on this land. He knew that this was painful for Erik, and he absolutely loved that fact. Nothing about him wanted this interaction to hurt Magneto's pride more than the fact of... It made him smile. "Why of course you can, Magneto. It's a free country after all... In fact, I don't think it's much of a country at all, if you recall... This place is not much more than a wasteland, if your aging eyes are still working properly... In fact, to call it a home is a bit... Generous. This place is nothing more than a spectacle for the human world.""You ask why I have found myself on your homeland, and say with a truce of our age old rivalry dating all the way back to the second world war. Far too long have we been at each other's throats. I'm here for a better tomorrow. That better tomorrow is where you and I are side by side, ruling this land of mutants together. Not only that, but we make this into a world free of the laws and orders of the world... Here we would make our own rules. We would be a mutant society, free to make our own decisions for the people you call family.""Of course, this proposition alone is laughable. Simply put, you would tell me to get out of your face and never show mine here again. Which is why I have come with many reasons as to why you should consider this offer. Firstly, you alone cannot sustain this place for long. Neither can I. Together, though, we stand a fair chance against almost anything. With my controllable bio-metal and your control of metal overall, we have a shot at sustaining an entire country... Notice how I say we can ALMOST defend against anything... My next point covers the rest.""Unless you have done some major advancing since we last spoke, you know nothing of the magics of this world, and I dare not touch the stuff... It's bad for a man of science such as I. Which is why I have enlisted the help of Kristoff von Doom, whose last name will sound familiar. In exchange for a workshop on this land, he will provide us with anti-magic defenses to the island itself. Though he has stated that he will not do much in the actual protection of this place, I feel that will change as he sees the benefit to having a workshop here...""Secondly, I have procured Mothervine. This is basically the essence of the biological masterpiece that is the mutant. Using this, we can do so much for the mutant race and to dangle over the human race so we can be our own country. I am still doing research on it, but I am able to reproduce this material in mass quantities. We could create mutants, enhance our own... The possibilities are endless.""Finally, and here's the one to grab your attention, as it seems you may have gone a little senile on me... I have the backing and help of your old friend, Charles Xavier." AppTrackerVoice Example

"As a boy, I believed. As a boy, I turned my back on God forever."
Magneto asked his question, and Sinister began droning on and on. Lord, had I been this insufferable in my younger days? But the Lord of Genosha listened, nonetheless. Despite the voice of Sinister being akin to that of sandpaper on a chalkboard, grating and painful, Erik knew better than to let even a single word slip past his ears unheard. Sinister was as cunning as he was vile and deplorable. More likely than not, this wall of words flung his way was meant to throw Magneto off in some fashion. The mutant wouldn't give Sinister the satisfaction. But what this speech unfolded into was something the Master of Magnetism simply did not see coming. Although he didn't wear the surprise plainly on his face, and though his helmet prevented even Sinister's powerful telepathic abilities from penetrating his mind, one could see that Magneto was taken aback in the way he floated down from the skies, touching down gently on Genosha's dusty surface. He maintained a healthy distance from Sinister, all the same. Mothervine -- Kristoff von Doom -- naught but mere words to the mutant. But what caught his ear, and what brought him further engrossed into this discussion, was the mention of Charles Xavier. "Charles?" His voice dripped with disbelief. "Surely, you must take me for a fool," Magneto replied. It seemed he ignored the several jabs Sinister had thrown his way in his little speech. "You have committed atrocities against our kind the likes of which I dare not even speak. You toy with genetics and the DNA of our brethren as though they were nothing more than your playthings, items for you to obtain, use, and discard as you please. Our prior arrangement was one born out of convenience and necessity, and now you think to infiltrate the nation I helped build and offer your hand like none of it ever happened?"Magneto's arms crossed. One could feel the menacing aura coming from his person. "Either you're lying to me through your teeth, or Charles has become very desperate," he said. His eyes narrowed at the scientist through the visor of his helmet. "I'll need proof of these claims before I consider anything you've said for even a second."

Mister Sinister "What a Sinister turn of events this was, eh?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For most, the man standing in front of him would have terrified and struck deep fear in them. They would have been shaking, running, fleeing from this powerful beast... Nathaniel Essex was not most. In fact, he was better than almost all. One of the paragons of this earth's society. Not only that, but he was a man that most definitely had a plan. He would've never met with someone as volatile and hated him so much without one. "Magneto, it truly wounds me that you think I would approach you with such a wild claim and not have proof of it. As deplorable as you might find it, you truly cannot deny the brilliance of my brain... That being said, it doesn't take a genius such as I to know that you wouldn't believe any word that came out of my mouth without proof... Thus, I present you with the evidence."He would present a disc with a wicked looking "S" on it which obviously stood for his namesake. One would assume it was just a very hip and cool team insignia, but he'd hover it in the air with telekinesis. "If you agree with this, I think it's only right for the other member of the trio involved to be here as well... I present to you, all the proof you need."With a push of a button, a portal would open beside Mister Sinister, allowing for Charles Xavier to wheel out. AppTrackerVoice Example

"Oppression is no excuse for vengeance -- for murder."
This would be Xavier's time to step out of the shadows. Figuratively and literally, as his arrival was foretold with a bright light. Sinister's teleportation disc had brought Charles Xavier before the duo.
"If I'm being honest, Erik?"
The man would reveal himself to his old friend and his new ally. He floated towards them in his hoverchair, his eyes locked firmly on the both of them. His expression was one of turmoil: worry mixed with determination.
"I don't think we can believe in Sinister," the man explained. "But I think we can believe in our ability to keep him in check. I want to believe in Genosha. I want to believe that there's a chance - no matter how small, how vain - that it can come to be."
Xavier closed his eyes. Magneto was right, in that he was desperate. Desperate enough to work with a monster like Sinister, and against his own desires. Why?
"We're broken people. Splintered into tiny factions, fighting amongst each other while our enemies pick us off. The more we fight, the more innocent people suffer. Yet we keep on doing it, blind to the truth that's right in front of us."
A sigh, before continuing. "Genosha's massacre, Mutant Town... The humans aren't to blame, and neither is Ultron. We are. Because we let our people down when they needed us most. Now is our chance to give them what they need: protection, support, sanctuary. Hope. If that means we have to shake hands with the Devil, so be it."
"I wonder... Does the death of innocent people free you? I think not."

"As a boy, I believed. As a boy, I turned my back on God forever."
Magneto figured Essex had some sort of contingency for situations like this. Sinister was, for all his faults, an absurdly well-prepared individual. But he could have never seen this coming. Magneto's arms fell as Sinister's portal was activated, and from a brilliant column of light came out his former best friend and closest ally. It was Charles Xavier, in the flesh. And when he spoke, Magneto needed no further confirmation. There was no faking that cadence, that distinct manner of speaking only he possessed. To say Magneto appeared stunned was an understatement, especially given the mutant was so seldom surprised by anything. "Charles," he uttered, almost not believing his eyes or ears. It was the first time he had seen his former comrade this close in a very, very long time. And for once, it wasn't under antagonistic circumstances of any kind. Quite the contrary, if what he and Sinister were saying was to be believed. It was all very... surreal. In some ways, it was comforting to hear one of his oldest friends use his real name. "In all my years, I never thought I would see you exiting from one of his devices, of your own accord, no less," he admitted. He stepped across the small distance between himself and Xavier, standing just before the man. "You think ourselves to blame for all of this? This chaos, this devastation? I am unsure if I can agree."Magneto glanced around the clearing they stood within. In the distance, Genosha's capital stood resolute as ever, but quiet and desolate, left abandoned since Ultron's attack. And as he looked, Xavier's words began to seep deeper into Magneto's mind. Sometimes, he wondered if Xavier had a way to bypass the effects of his helmet. But no -- his old friend simply had a way with words. "... but perhaps you're right, Charles." Magneto could hardly believe he even considered this for a moment, but what else did he have left? He looked between Sinister and Xavier, still somewhat unconvinced for the time being. "What would you have in mind? In theory."

Mister Sinister "What a Sinister turn of events this was, eh?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sinister stood silently as the two men had their moments of disbelief. He loved the idea of the both of them being SHOCKED that they would be standing next to a man such as Essex. Charles Xavier, a life-long enemy of his. Has been a major factor in keeping Sinister from his goals for years. Though the man himself was not much of a problem for Sinister, the gaggle of powerful mutants he kept around him at all time were. If he were to kill Xavier, he would never stop being hunted, and he knew that. Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, better known as Max Eisenhart. The man he experimented on in the time of World War 2. Though it was regrettable that he had to work with such a barbaric and idiotic regime, it yielded him much data with little risk. The master of magnetism was a force he wasn't entirely sure he could deal with. Would it be a fight that Magneto would never forget? Most definitely, but he was not sure he could defeat the man either... As it seemed to stand with the two men standing with him. Neither of them were entirely certain that they could defeat Sinister. Yet, that is not why they were here... They were here to discuss how the three of them would work as a unit. He had to admit, he couldn't think of any force on the planet that could stop all three of them. With Sinister's resources, Magneto's raw power, and Xavier's expertise... They had potential to rule the world. Though a small country would do. This seemed to be an arrangement worth preserving. "The plan I have hatched for Genosha was ongoing since before Apocalypse found his way to this realms... A wonderful display, by the way, Erik. You really did a number. In fact, your showing inspired me. I saw you working alongside the full might of the X-Men, and I saw the power displayed. I thought that this would be a wonderful opportunity for me. My original plan was to just include you, Magneto... You and I would rule Genosha together and absorb the mutant population. Then I realized that you will never grow to trust me, and I will never grow to tolerate your stubborn nature. I needed to workshop that idea. Which led me to Charles Xavier. While Charles shares your distrust of me, we haven't quite the... History. I knew Charles would be more willing to hear me out. Which, as almost always, I was correct."He'd begin walking around, looking at the expanse of land that was spread before them. "So, instead, I decided that the three of us should have equal footing in the rule of Genosha. None of us can read the other's mind. Even without the helmet, I doubt I could infiltrate the warzone that is Erik's mind. We are three of the most dangerous mutant beings on the planet. Why not put that to some good? Why not give the mutant world what it deserves? A home. Run by them. Created FOR them. Not created by the disgusting laws of the Kingpin from America."He'd turn to meet Magneto's likely annoyed once again gaze. "I see the old man is becoming senile yet again, so I will get to what you really want. You want to know my role in all of this. Why am I all of the sudden on the mutant train? Rather simple, my good man. Contrary to your belief, I hold a high regard for mutants. If you people are killed off, my life's work is useless. If man or machine were to kill you off, I would have to resort to a lesser species for my research. While you may despise this idea, I cannot lie to you in this moment. Logically, it would make no sense to hide my true motive, for that action would spell my end of being in this agreement."He would take steps closer to Magneto, but not in a threatening way. Almost as if to solidify his point. Perhaps to show an openness? Trust perhaps? Though uncharacteristic, it didn't seem incorrect. There was too much... Whatever his form of joy was. There was no denying that this is what he wanted. "This agreement gives me an unlimited supply of mutant DNA for my own projects as well as the projects used to better the nation. Plus, it allows me to take it from the already deceased, so I will no longer be senselessly killing mutants... I help raise mutants in a society they thrive in, and I become the pathologist that uses their bodies for science in death. Though you may hate the idea, it is one that you KNOW will keep me here. You should have known better than to think that I would come here with a sudden good will for mutants.""To summarize, I get everything I want. A place to rule, where I can spar politically with nations all around the world and hold power. An infinite supply of mutant DNA that isn't bloody tiresome to retrieve, which aligns with the X-Men's deep desire for me to stop stealing their brethren from their own homes. Finally, I have a static place to do my studies."Looking to Charles for a moment, he would form a smile once again. "If even Charles wanted insurance against me, I'm certain that I will have to provide it to you as well. I have agreed to revealing a weakness that has plagued me since the day I met the X-Men. I will also provide all of the data I have collected, which is a lot, on the weakness. Though it won't outright kill me, it would make things very troublesome for me. And, something that I didn't mention to Charles, I will allow you to ask me for access to my research. Though you will not be able to access it by yourself, I will allow you to see it through me. A fair warning, though, you may not like what you see.""The rest is history, beyond that. We propose, Erik, that we create a nation that all mutants can enjoy. Made by mutants, for mutants. We use our combined abilities to make this place livable."He'd stand cinematically with his arms outstretched in front of the capital monument. "The ideal scenario for all of us." "Oppression is no excuse for vengeance -- for murder."
The moment he could be alone with Erik, Xavier would begin hatching a plan with him to overthrow Sinister when the need would arise. Not once did he plan on trusting Sinister to keep his word; as harsh as it was, their nefarious little compatriot was just a means to an end for them. There would be no love lost if they had to put him down.
Now that Sinister threw his cards on the table, Erik knew as much about the situation as Charles did. As much as he wanted Genosha to be realized, he wasn't going to prod Erik or beg him to stand with them. He trusted his friend-turned-foe to make his own decisions, even if he might not agree with them.
"All I will say," Xavier began. "Is that I trust in you, Erik. More importantly, I trust in us, our power to work together for what we believe in. But regardless of your choice, I will respect it. I know that, no matter what you do, it will be done out of love for our people."
There were a lot of things to consider: governing bodies beyond the three of them; rebuilding more of Genosha; safely carrying people to and from the island; laws and security; infrastructure; everything needed to be examined and approved by three very different minds. But they would cross that bridge when they came to it. For now, everything hinged on this one moment. "I wonder... Does the death of innocent people free you? I think not."

"As a boy, I believed. As a boy, I turned my back on God forever."
Sinister's arrogance truly knew no bounds -- but this was something Magneto had come to expect at this point. One thing he said was entirely correct; Magneto would never learn to trust the false-mutant that he had seen experimenting on Prisoners of War when he was just a boy. And if that weren't enough, he continued to gloat about how much this plan benefitted him in particular. While it was not exactly a fantastic selling point, Magneto could tell he was being truthful to a degree. More truthful than normal, that is. Magneto held his ground and his gaze when Sinister stepped closer, never once dropping his crossed arms. Magneto's brows furrowed when Sinister carried on, revealing his motive. It wasn't something he wanted to hear. "Typical," he sneered. "Not a venture born out of concern nor desire for freedom, but simply a convenient arrangement suited to continue fueling your ill-advised science fair projects."The disdain for Sinister's practices rang clear in Magneto's voice. For his own part, he was no stranger to making leaps and bounds in science and mathematics; he, himself, was a geneticist of great renown the world over. Though not on the level of Sinister, he'd participated in research that has lead to great advancements in both fields. But one thing that separated the two masterminds was their choice of test subjects. That, Magneto could not easily abide. Before either man could say anything else, however, Charles chimed in once more. His oldest friend had a gentle, calm way of speaking that often subdued your hostility and made you feel at ease with yourself. His inquisitive genius was one of the traits that Erik respected most about him. And it was such traits that caused Magneto pause once more, and he went silent as he turned away from Sinister. He faced, now, the grand vista of Genosha's capital in the distance. It was empty now, a skeleton of what it once was. But, hinging on his words, there was now the promise of a better tomorrow for the country and his own people. Would it be selfish of him to deny this future over a petty squabble? Dangerous though he may be, Nathaniel Essex was of minor importance in the grand scheme of the mutant race's prosperity. And if he kept to his word, only using the bodies of the willing deceased to carry out his research, perhaps there was some hope yet that the trio could coexist peacefully -- whatever the word "peace" meant to men like them. And if all else failed, he still trusted Charles. Even after all they'd been through. Magneto was silent for a good, long while, staring out over the water. His hands dropped by his sides, and it seemed the mutant liberator's mind had been made up. He turned, looking over his shoulder at Sinister and Xavier. "Tell me how this would work, and we shall go from there," he answered.

"Oppression is no excuse for vengeance -- for murder."
Xavier took this moment as an opportunity to speak. As hard as Mister Sinister had been working to make their dream a possibility, the professor would be more adept at communicating it to Magneto.
"While I imagine we'll be run more democratically down the line, the three of us will be the main powers of this island. We'll have equal power, which should allow us to overrule Sinister when he steps out of line. I don't imagine us all sharing a unified vision for Genosha, but we should be able to work together in order to make it prosper. With all our combined forces, Genosha can only be better than its previous state."
Was it all talk? Xavier didn't think so. While their ultimate goals for the island would likely look different, he at least trusted in their ability to set Genosha on the right path. But it would likely be up for mutants as a whole to decide their fate, rather than a cabal that worked in the shadows.
But now that they were talking, Xavier did have his own idea in mind. It seemed that this was a good a time as any to bring up an idea he had been mulling around in his mind.
"Genosha should be for all mutants, not just the X-Men," he explained. "It wouldn't be fair to deny sanctuary to those who had fallen through the cracks, or those who were forced to extremes because of human society. That's why I propose we give a second chance to mutants like Blob, or Toad. They have a right to live a peaceful life."
Of course, even Xavier had his limits; he wouldn't accept mutants who saw their blank slate as a carte blanche to do as they pleased. It would be a chance to start fresh, not to get away with harming innocent people. But for now, it was important to stress what was at the heart of Genosha: equal opportunity, protection, and a chance to heal. "I wonder... Does the death of innocent people free you? I think not."

"As a boy, I believed. As a boy, I turned my back on God forever."
When his old friend responded to him, it seemed to the two for a time as though Sinister wasn't even there. And good thing, too; Magneto was already beginning to grow sick of his gross arrogance. And coming from Erik Lehnsherr, that was saying something. Still, he got a certain satisfaction from hearing Charles speak of Sinister as though he didn't exist. Despite all the years apart, the Professor never lost his lighthearted wit that made his words so spirited. "I will be the first to contend that democracy -- true democracy -- is a pipe dream with no true success in the modern age. It is ugly, and frankly, useless." Magneto dispensed plainly. While his opinion was certainly a bit biased, classical examples of democratic nations weren't exactly shining. "But I cannot argue against your logic. Perhaps with proper checks and balances in place, and the ability to have our governance actually mean something, it has the potential to gain footing. But only if it is handled with care and precision. I won't stand by and tolerate my country being run into the ground by those who haven't the slightest idea how it functions."Magneto glanced at Sinister when he said this. He clearly doubted the man's political acumen. "That has always been my vision for Genosha, Charles." Magneto crossed his arms, turned to faced his friend. "For all Mutantkind, it was an open door, a chance at a new beginning free from the prying eyes and iron grasps of the exterior world. Few understand true oppression and what it looks like, and I admit that in the past, I have made my fair share of mistakes, overextended my reach. But Genosha has been and always will be different; it's my vision made manifest. To hear that you share that vision, even if only in part, is at the very least comforting."Magneto turned to Sinister again, and his eyes narrowed in that familiar look of distrust. "And you," he began, turning up his chin, "do you swear to uphold freedom and autonomy for mutants, and not just the ones that benefit you?"

Mister Sinister "What a Sinister turn of events this was, eh?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mister Sinister watched the homoerotic relationship between Erik and Charles play out with a yawn and a look at a watch that wasn't present. The two would speak on their views of this. How their friendship is stronger than Sinister and his plans... Which was flatly not true. Especially when they were missing the most unexpected factor of his plan yet... He wasn't actually going to betray them. Essex didn't hate mutants. In fact, it was quite the opposite. This has been explained many times before by him, so he doesn't need to think much about it. Where his hatred came from, was the people inside of these perfect mutant specimens. They gave him a sense of dread that he couldn't think to put to words. These false senses of hope and joy all based on things that aren't concrete. It was horrendous to palate. He wanted to crush them. How would he do that? By bringing the forces of the world down around them, or building them up in a way that is fully dependent on him. He was trapping the X-Men with this deal. If they were to exile or kill him for something that LOOKED like a traitorous act, but was actually something to benefit mutantkind, then he was the good guy. He was going to be living, breathing proof that mutants are evil. The world will be convinced. Who would kill a man making the cure for cancer? Or making some system that would make the process of teleportation easier? Monsters. If they were to allow him to stick around and deal with his smoke screens, then Sinister would rule the world atop his mutant empire. The countries of the world would bow to him as he brought all the world to its knees, begging for Genosha's assistance. Who could resist the man creating cures for cancer and better teleportation tech for all? Monsters. Magneto approached him with a question that implied agreement to these terms. The question posed was filled with hate. He expected nothing less. With a wide smile, Sinister would put his hands up in a defensive manner. "I solemnly swear to follow and uphold any and all rules that we establish together, down to the letter."There was a lot to think about with that statement. With Sinister, every word counted, and boy did he have a lot of them. "As detestable to me as it will be to work with the both of you, and as certain as I am that you will feel the same way... I feel that we will do great things together that mutants will look upon for generations."Sinister placed himself between the two men as the three looked out at the crumbling city of Genosha. All this time, mutants had been in their book of Genesis. They had found themselves entrapped in a world plagued by human meddling and infighting. No longer. This was something bigger. This was escape. This was the Mutant Bible's Exodus. {Thread End} AppTrackerVoice Example
