The basics of the curriculum of the academy were flexible by design and this left a lot of adaptability regarding even the most basic of details such as that which the young man had enquired.
"The lessons are on a relatively informal schedule. You could start just about any time you wish, as a result. One week lessons might include self defence, first aid and the theory of magic, the next might be languages, law and chemistry. A lot of villains use bombs, gases and so on. Recognising them, knowing ways to counter them... it all helps. But depending on the schedule on the day, you might well be able to walk into classes with no preparation. So... possibly tomorrow if you so desired, though there is no need to commit to such a sudden degree. Whenever you are comfortable and ready."
As the jacket of the young man reached out and asked for Thor's permission for that which so many heroes, young and old, sought to attempt, Thor nodded his consent. If someone was worthy then it was their right to find out, just as if they were not. He already suspected the outcome though, and when the sentient clothing made its attempt to no avail, he gave a kindly smile in commiseration. "By Midgardian standards, I understand you to be honourable indeed. Protecting another even at great personal risk. Asgardians would deem you similarly, but... the Allfather deemed Mjolnir to be the weapon of an exemplary warrior. A shield may save lives, but a sword is also needed to keep others safe. Truly though, I respect a protector more than a fighter, whatever Asgardian standards of worthiness might say."
Hel, it was not like even on Asgard the concept of worthiness was all that definite. Many differing opinions existed, only his knowledge of the Allfather and of course centuries of training and study meant he had any real understanding of the matter. Not that he considered that one definition to be any better or worse than many others out there...
