This is the Battle of the Brave, the Brawl of the Best, the Clash of the Titans. This is the Tournament of Marvels.
The tournament is considered by many to be the superhero equivalent of the Olympics; the ultimate test of power, skill and talent for anyone willing to compete. Anyone is free to enter, but very few make it past the preliminaries. Even fewer, who make up the best of the best, can go even further.
For three days, the eight best competitors will compete in a single-elimination tournament. Here, the winner will be (officially) crowned the World Champion, and (unofficially) recognized as Earth's greatest warrior. (At least among anyone who follows the tournament or sees its adverts.) Heroes and villains alike can sign up to take part in a tournament to earn fame, fortune, and a chance to go down in history.
This year, the tournament will be held in Latveria, and Dr. Doom himself has had his hand in developing it. Arrangements will be made to transport any competitor and their friends. Those who have been banned from a country, or have serious criminal records, can be snuck in discreetly.
Rules
TL;DR: Do what you want, but try to keep the thread timely. Also, you can't interact with, or attack the audience.

We need a minimum of four people, and have a maximum of eight. (Unless people are REALLY interested, then in which case we'll throw in more.) Each player can submit up to two of their characters.
1. Kid Kaiju
2. Nova
3. Doctor Octopus
4. Squirrel Girl
5. Star
6. Namor
7. Iron Fist
8. The Thing
Sign-ups will probably end on August 2nd, and the fights will begin on the fifth. The first round (the quarter- or semi-finals) will end at the end of September, or whenever all fights are finished. The second round (semi-finals or finals) will begin on October 5th. If anyone is busy and wants to drop out of the tournament, that's also fine. You can decide if your character loses off-screen, or has chosen to surrender for whatever reason.

Rules
- The threads will start with the Top 4/8. Your characters will have passed the preliminary rounds off-screen. For the record, the preliminaries consist of two rounds: a dangerous obstacle course through a maze full of traps, and a battle royale against 19 other competitors. You've gone through the maze and won your battle royale, just as your opponents have won theirs.
If we only have 4 players, then your character will have fought and won a fight in the previous round. This doesn't really change how the tournament works, but it adds a little bit of street cred to your character. We got a lot of players, so you can just ignore this part.- If we get an odd number of competitors (3 out of 4, or 5 out of 8), then the odd people out will have the opportunity to skip a round (getting an off-screen victory), or an NPC can come and fight them. If, by some divine magic, the NPC manages to beat them, then the player set to face them will have the same opportunities.
- Each fight in the tournament will last 6 weeks IRL, with no in-universe time limit. If a thread is not completed within that time frame, a group of judges will look at the thread and pick a winner, based on how well they've performed.
- There will be a separate thread for each fight. In-universe, each fight takes place at separate times.
- Characters not in the fight can post in any thread, commenting amongst themselves or on the fight. They can't interact with the fighters or otherwise impact the fights in any way; this way, players only have to focus on their fights, without having to read a lot of extra stuff. So while Hercules is having some down-time before his fight, he can check out his competitors. Or Ms. Marvel, who's not competing at all, can watch from the stands and comment. Maybe Wasp is watching a stream from home?
- Okay, that rule I just posted? Low-key optional. If all players agree to add some interference, that's totally fine. So Scarlet Witch could secretly use magic to cheat & help Quicksilver beat Wolverine. Go nuts.
- Fighters can't leave the arena or harm the audience. Safety measures will be in place to keep the fight contained.
- Because they don't have to worry about the audience or their surroundings, fighters can go all-out with their powers, without worrying about causing damage. Yes, they can even go sicko mode on their opponent without fear. Because...
- Characters cannot be killed here, unless it's okayed by that character's player. If someone has no chance of saving themselves and is about to be killed, a superpowered referee can come in and save them. Of course, this would spell their elimination from the tournament.
- Characters will be healed with magic before and after each fight. So, unless you choose to handicap your character, you don't have to worry about how much damage your fighter has accrued during a match.
- Weapons are permitted. So Hawkeye can bring his bow, and Doctor Doom can partner up with a Doombot. The caveat is that they have to be created in the arena, or brought to the arena before the fight begins. So no teleporting in an army of doombots in the middle of a match.
TL;DR: Do what you want, but try to keep the thread timely. Also, you can't interact with, or attack the audience.
