Ava was sat on watch over a building she had been observing for the last three days with two other 'recruits'. Their mission brief was simple. Watch and report. If a car approached they had a gun to shoot a tracker onto it if the person inside went into the building. So far four different cars had been targeted and none had the tracker on due to inaccuracy of the shooter or the person didn't go into the building.
That night Ava could get the nagging feeling that something was off. She was still well in cover but there was also the feeling that eyes were on her. This probably wasn't helped by the mini cam she had spotted in the corner of the room on the first day. She knew it was a feed to the commanding officer. Which that night was supposed to be someone she had never worked with before.
As time passed the feeling didn't change, it got worse. Leaning her head back onto the stone wall she tried to pinpoint what the feeling was. Through partly closed eyes she scanned the surrounding but still couldn't find anything. Leaning forward she looked through the thermal binoculars at the surrounding areas. Still nothing.... then a heat spike where there shouldn't have been one. Flicking the dial on top she first took a picture then looked at the image with others spectrum. Nothing... odd. She sent the picture to the CO address and spoke into her mic.
"Red Widow to CO, heat source found. Nothing on other lenses. You should have photo."
She ducked back from where she had stood only to feel a sting of warmth brush past her face. She let out a hiss as something hit the floor behind her. Thinking fast she fell down as if the thing had hit the mark. Looking at where the thing had thwacked into wood she spotted a small hole. Too small for a normal bullet. Odd.

Some people enjoyed days off from work doing something fun or perhaps even nothing at all. They might go on a hike, read a book, do laundry, play with their pet, drink a cocktail, or even take an entire day to sleep. However, Natasha wasn't one of those people, especially not when her partner was unavailable to fly to the Alps for a day of adventure. So if Nat couldn't have a day with Tony doing something wonderful, she decided she might as well do something necessary. That meant spending her day observing Ava and attempting to improve upon her training and test her sestra's limitations.
It should be easy enough, the senior Widow thought. Throw a few curve balls to Ava's stakeout, maybe a mystery. Natasha had a few things in motion, including a few lower-level supers who were going to play a part. She was determined to see how Ava handled herself when she believed herself to be all alone facing an opponent that didn't make logical sense. Could her seastra think outside of the box? Or would she stick to the SHIELD manual like a good soldier? Both options had merit, but one would take Ava further than the other in her chosen career.

Ava stayed still for just a few more seconds. Her thoughts were moving fast then she knew she had to move. There was someone downstairs, she couldn't hear them but she knew there had to be someone on the floor below. In one swift and silent move she rolled from where she had laid to being behind the pillar she was sheltering behind just moments ago. She smiled as a second shot landed in exactly the same space, it wasn't a bullet but bead of red light. At least she knew what was going on. Seeing it hit the exact same spot made her smile as she knew what it meant. Why hadn't she noticed it before?
There was nothing from her ear piece just the sound of her own heart beat. She had gone dark before, she knew how to do it, somethings were easier to do than others. Her eyes scanned the floor and located over a dozen similar marks on the floor. It was programmed in. She wanted to laugh but knew that would just give the game away. Most of the marks covered the stairs going down. This meant there was only one option and that mean it was trapped. If she went the way that was expected, out the window then it could mean being shot from another source. If she went down the stairs without triggering any of the shots it would give her advantage.
Loosening her ear piece she allowed it to dangle over her ear in case she tried to fry the piece or static built up the closer she got to the blocking signal. Looking up she saw the exposed beams. The only issue was she didn't have her modified suit on so she would have to do this the old school way. Her climbing skills were known among the other cadets along with her ability to challenge all previous records, most of which Natasha held but she knew her Siesta was holding back on.
Her hand moved into the holder and took out a bag of powder. Rubbing her hands she turned took two silent steps back and ran at the wall. Springing up her fingers only just managed to grab hold of the I beam which spread across the ceilings and window mantles. Her idea was simple, move between windows using the ceiling and beams to shelter her. Eventually getting to the interior wall where she could use the edge beams to get to the top of the stair and drop down on the hopefully still unsuspecting target. Three leaps were needed and one tough drop.
The first one was successful but triggered a gun shot. She used the beam for cover as she swung her legs up and moved quietly along the beam upside down. This was a different route to what she was planning but if it meant less exposure then all the better. She heard a creak of the floor above, her hand moved to her hip and removed her foil. A small hole was visible not too far ahead, either they were watching down or were oblivious of the hole in the boards. At this point she was glad she had spent so long on the climbing wall and free running. The loop of the foil was now safely on her wrist. She moved with all four limbs watching for any shadow from above as she got closer to the hole. Where was the person?

"She is nearly below you, Agent 34" Natasha said calmly into her communication piece.
She was watching Ava's movements on her computer screen. Her junior Widow had utilized all of the technology on her to attempt to find a target; everything from thermal to motion and all things in between that SHIELD officers were provided. It would eventually dawn on her that someone watching her may be using the same technology, but for now, the usual technology was working for keeping tabs on Ava.
"Cover the hole as planned and let her move on."
Eventually, Ava may tire of waiting for the cover to be removed. It was unlikely she would attempt to move it herself lest she give away her position, but that was what this was all about was it not? To see how Ava would pivot when her plans fell apart and she had no idea what was happening. This was a legitimate stakeout, after all. As far as she was aware, everything that was happening could be a threat.
"Team one, what's your status?" A coded message of clicks returned to her from those positioned below Ava and Natasha was satisfied with their progress. She continued to eye her surveillance screen and watch Ava.

Ava remained serious as she neared the hole. The person above had stopped moving. Her arms were starting to feel the burn a little but she ignored it. Not knowing if they were hostile or not she really didn't want to take her chances. Either this was going to hurt them or it wasn't. Hopefully she kept it as cool as possible and not over do it. From her foil she unfastened the safety to her gloves and watched for a brief moment to make sure her target was where she wanted it. In no time at all her foil went up through a thin gap in the boards and without pausing she tried to shock the person above with enough to stun but not to kill. Then letting her foil drop she swung from the beam she was on to the last metal beam in the room. No more room for moving.
She was only just lucky enough to grip onto the edge of the beam with her finger tips. Now she was close to the top of the stairs furthest from the entrance to it. Letting go was easy, the landing was quiet but at least she was on the floor. One smooth roll under the last window and she was in the right place. Now she listened but it wasn't just that she looked up and smiled. She had to stop from laughing this wasn't the time nor the place. There was a reason she was good at getting out of the academy and this wasn't the last challenge.
Now it was her turn. There was no way to get to the stairs going up as they were the other side to her. So she waited. Crouched she focused on her pulse, this suit would only help so far in keeping her body temperature low but her pulse she was starting to master. The ones below she knew where they were, at least she thought. Once her pulse was steady enough she listened once more then nodded. No one at the bottom of the stairs and she knew that the below floor she could get access to the back. The only issue was that at least four people were down there.
She acted smoothly going from a crouch to lowering herself over and down. She knew the layout, a little more complicated than where she had just been which meant lots of areas to stalk from. Down she went, landing smoothly into a heroes position. Then quick silent sprint to the wall which could give her cover from anyone firing at her down the hall.

The agent above was lucky enough to have moved to grab the cover or the hole just before Ava attempted to strike with her energized foil. Had they known what they nearly experienced, they would have likely felt relief. Instead, they moved to the box a step away and pivoted it back to cover the hole. Their next task was to begin a stealthy descent with the rest of their team. The four agents did so with nary a whisp of air whenever they exhaled.
The teams above and below Ava have trained as well as any SEAL team regarding stealth, but anyone with the right equipment could be found; hence, Ava had as much advantage as they did. No one heard Ava as she moved across the room in which she had taken station for her stakeout. The youthful Widow was moving well, but one had to wonder what she had planned. After all, her sensors would have shown her she was outnumbered below but had she forgotten about the red dots that once followed her? What would she do if more laser targets began scanning the area?
"Team one, dot the room."
Immediately, three lasers began scanning the area around Ava as if attempting to locate her. They were coming from illogical directions and places Ava should have already cleared with her scanners. In fact, it appeared that she had three enemies simply materialize in spaces behind and in front of her in the lower room. If Ava investigated she would discover these were merely lasers that were remotely controlled. An attempt to distract her while the two teams prepared for the next stage. However, until she could get close enough to get eyes on one of them, she may well determine herself in danger.
"Sleeper activated," Nat spoke into her mic, her altered voice reaching the ears of her agents through encryption and preplanned codes. This was the first of four surprises for Ava that the Widow had planned. This one would only involve altering her environment. The area was slowly becoming filled with gas that would knock Ava out if she didn't act fast enough. Her protege would have to first deal with the threat of those lasers, then determine that the area was filling with an odorless gas. Her agents knew this and had masks already secured to their faces.
The four above were converging on the stairs Ava took down while the ones below would appear to scanners to be loading something into boxes or crates. Natasha watched with interest as the game continued to play. Would her little canary notice the lack of clean air in time to avoid its consequence? Or would the game end sooner than expected?

In the next few seconds several things happened. She had got used to the sounds in the area so the extra noises was new. Looking down at her watch she checked the sensors she had placed earlier along with allowing it to do a quick scan of nearby areas. Far too many people for her tastebuds. Then there was the lights... too many, she had been on a mission not long ago where a person used a tool to split the red dot into many. Also There was something... Two somethings. The second was much closer and had been only a moment. Two rooms away she could set up another trap. This area first though.
Pulling out a thin chord she set a trip wire so thin only an expert would be able to see it. Come to it she was struggling to see it too.... looking down at her watch and pressing a few buttons she read her body's readout. That wasn't good! She held her breath, at least for now. She knew she needed to move.
The dots didn't bother her but this room was. Designed to flush her out or knock her out. Now was the fun bit diagonally across from her was a room with several floorboards she had already loosened. The other end of the corridor was already rigged with trip wires. Simple to get around but enough to cause a small hesitation which should give her time to slip down.
Mini dash out of the room and still her floor was quiet. The whole building was. The problem with this room was it faced the direction where the 'sniper' was sat meaning dangerous. If the people below were really there it was odd. She would wait and see. At least the room she would drop down into wasn't occupied yet.
She felt her lungs starting to fight for breath so took a second before crossing the corridor to dive into the next office. The door had already been oiled and she hoped her escape route would work enough to get her out. The door opened and she slipped in moving to as low as the floor as possible. If the person fired in that would just be a bonus. She kept moving over to the lose floor boards ignoring anything else that was going on. She needed fresh air and that would only be found from outside or below. Down there wasn't quite safe so she needed someone/something to distract them.

Well, her little canary quickly made her way out of the room and didn't appear to be breathing according to the censors in Ava's suit. That was positive. It meant that Ava quickly detected the immediate threat and was taking action to remove herself from it. Good girl, Natasha thought. This, however, wasn't the only test her protege would have to pass tonight. It was only the beginning.
The agents dressed in outfits that would not reveal their affiliation with SHIELD made their way downstairs. It was pitch black save for the dim light that occasionally filtered through the windows. Still, once Ava began encounters with the agents she would have immediately recognized tonight for what it was and dismissed it as nonthreatening. Natasha would then have to disregard the results since Ava would have been performing without the threat of death or capture. It was essential that Ava not know for this test to be as accurate as possible.
One of the agents missed a trip wire but caught himself before triggering anything that may have been attached to it. He silently motioned and warned those behind him and the entourage continued. Their guns aimed wherever they were searching as they sought an intruder, but never directly at the back of the person in front of them. They were trained soldiers from the way they moved. Ava would recognize this and proceed accordingly. The four men searched the floor and around obstacles as they moved through the room, acknowledging that their intruder could be knocked out but also that they could be up and posing a threat.
They reached the other side of the room and stepped on the loosened floorboards making one or two squeaks. The soldiers ignored it and continued through the corridor, approaching the other side. Someone was there and they were tasked with finding them. It was all that mattered. One caught movement in the dark and fired a single shot. It struck the wall barely above the target. At that point, they all began converging on the intruder quickly but with a trained purpose. None of them wanted to be the first one tagged with a counter shot.

Ava had watched long enough. It was time for action and something in her stepped up a gear. The shot just over her was enough to make her forget plan A as the people below still were unpacking boxes and she really didn't trust that. That meant plan B and that made her smile. All the hard work in the gym and climbing walls was all she needed. Moving through a wall that just had a sheet in place she leaped shooting a line up through the open ceiling at the floor above. If they followed they would either have to think quick and grab hold of her line as she quickly looped her feet into the slim rope and scurry up or they would fall through the floor. Yes, she had made sure she knew roots.
The only issue was in doing the leap it made her breath in. She just needed to go up and hopefully along. One brief moment and she used her fingers to undo the fastenings to her grounding. Her stomach was already feeling like a storm just waiting to explode in any direction. Her head snapped around and she looked down as her arms moved her up. There was a reason she was top ranking in rope climbing. Even the boastful boys who were new were left jaw dropped when they got back down only to find her watching them.
Pride... fall... anyone? Breath held again. The last bit was a small leap to a beam with enough time to try and catch a look on her pursuers. That was her hope at least. She just hoped the people on the floor below wouldn't look up and or walk under the rope otherwise she would have to work through a bit of pain if they were also armed. That would just make her more dangerous. She jumped but kept a tether to the adapted Dynamica Rope, dangerous she knew but a risk she was willing to take if it meant taking the rope out of their grasp. If someone did manage to grab it, her balance was going to be tested. If not... they were either prepared or not. For now. Her head was starting to pound. She needed fresh air very soon.
