A SHIELD Facility Somewhere in the United States
Tony Stark sat at his desk in an undisclosed shield facility, watching a monitor and the data scrolling across it. A graphic appeared indicating that some of the threat monitoring satellites had detected a potential event in progress and instantly sent the gathered intelligence to a limited-A.I. capable of further assessing the nature of the threat before it would dispatch the appropriate forces to handle the situation. Only it was the latter portion Stark didn't want to happen as he pressed a button on his watch, redirecting that information to a personal assistant program that was a part of the latest iteration of the Iron Man armor.
"What do ya know, Natasha must be rubbing off on me. This sneaky spy stuff is starting to get much easier. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. Alright, send the message to the kiddoes. Tryouts are starting."
Silently the artificial assistant did as instructed...
THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY, NEW YORK
Flash Thompson stared in shock at the holographic image being projected from his cellphone. Right now he and others, including the hero codenamed Star would be receiving identical messages, though neither of them knew the other was a part of the unexpected mission being offered to them.
"Hey there...you lovely person you. If you are receiving this, no I'm not here to speak to you about an extended warranty or your car insurance and this isn't some sort of scam or virus. Yes, it's me, I mean obviously who else would have been able to get this on your phone/communicator/super secret device of unknown superheroic origins? Point is, consider this a chance for you, the recipient to do a little good while also proving if you are good enough. You do well and I may have a job offer for you at the end. You know, assuming you do well, nobody dies, and the bad guys have a very bad day. Attached is a file with all the details you will need. Location, threat analysis, the works. Long story short an algorithym designed by yours truly has managed to predict a crime in progress. It seems to be another escalation of an ongoing arms deal putting very dangerous, very futuristic tech out onto our streets. I want it stopped, weapons destroyed, and here's the kicker...don't be seen. And by that I mean by anyone. Not a TikTocker, some influencer, a security camera, and most definitely not by anyone else in the business. If you are seen and there is any proof of your involvement in this you are out of the running. This is dangerous, it needs to be kept hush-hush, and more importantly I need to know that there are people who can do the dirty work and not need the praise. That said...chop-chop folks. And I mean it. Nobody. Not Cap, not even me can catch you mixed up in this. Oh and just because I always wanted to say this, this message will self-destruct in five..."
Flash wasted no time in downloaded the file and glancing it over. From the look of things there was going to be a demonstration of this dangerous, high-powered weaponry at a construction site in the heart of downtown. Iron Man certainly didn't pick an easy target to remain hidden from view. Still, he had to take the opportunity. He wasn't sure if this was some kind of Avengers recruitment drive, a way of legitimizing some unregistered heroes, or what it was. To him though it was a sign that Iron Man, should he impress him, would maybe pull the necessary strings to let him keep operating as Venom.
YES! Stark has the resources and clout to tell the brass that we are necessary. We are heroes just as valid as any of the Avengers and together we will prove it! the symbiote purred in the back of his mind.
He tried to ignore the fact that it bothered him his first response was identical to the alien's, but that was a worry for another time. For now he had a mission, an unknown number of potential teammates, and a potential new boss to impress...
