One of the nice things about having a portal gun that can transfer you to various places in the infinite vastness in the multiverse is that one could travel to an infinite number of universes from basic what-if universes to ones more akin to Everything Everywhere All at Once where you could run into universes where people's fingers are sausages. Or in Gwen's particular case, she decided to go into desolate worlds full of gold and other precious metals.
Her goal was a bit odd as she was going to do what was essentially a reverse break-in. She had always heard the conspiracy theory that Fort Knox actually had no goal in it, Uncle Sam had long spent it, but if knowledge of that ever became public, the end result would result in a chain reaction that would obliterate the trust in the US dollar and result in the country defaulting on it's debt. At least that was the conspiracy. How much truth there was in it she did not know, but it struck her curiosity more than anything. Besides, in this universe, much like her own Uncle Sam had a bad spending problem and the bill so far was over 34 trillion and rising and even if it meant very little in the grand scheme of things she was curious to see what people's curiosity would be if the US had a massive surge of gold all of the sudden.
The hardest part of this massive scheme was just getting into the vicinity of the fort in question. the place was pact tight and while it wasn't exactly shield-protected it was still militarily protected. Break-in in required a slow methodical approach and it took her half a day just to get in there. Once she did get in thier however it seemed like in this world the conspiracy was...mostly true. There was still gold in fort knox but it was minuscule. Where once was About $130 billion was now just a little over $10 million.
"*sigh* Uncle sam really did a number on you Knoxy."
she was quick to get to work with her plan. The nice thing about her portal gun was that all she had to do was shoot the portal at an object and it would instantly be teleported to the location of her choosing. Meaning she didn't have to do any heavy lifting. It had crossed her mind that on paper that'd be extremely handy in battle but it'd be an incredibly OPed ability that if it wasn't straight up metagaming in combat, it certainly flirted with it.
For what seemed like hours Gwen just started shooting at gold deposits after gold deposit sending it all to Fort Knox of Earth MHR-616 where once the fort was empty now it was filled to the point of bursting with gold. After some brief calculations, she totaled it to about $150 trillion dollars worth, enough to pay off the national debt about 4-5 times over.
her job now done she decided to place a little note on the entrance door of the vault:
with that. She shot the portal on the wall and walked through it back to her bedroom in her home universe so she could take a shower....and maybe relax her now sore trigger finger.
