A women stood before a bathroom mirror looking longingly into her reflection. The scars of her past running down her wrists as she gripped the top of the vanity. The sounds of a spy movie faded into the background. The voices of her past running through her head “You’re failure, without me you’d be nothing” the tone of narsistic malice echoed in her memories. Gunshots sounded off from the tv in the background as Jade yelled an agonizing scream as the reflection almost seemed to mock her. A darker voice entered into her head and called to her.
“Jade, they mean nothing and you know that, you have proven more to the world now then they will ever know.”
She took a deep breathe inward and unclenched the bathroom counter. Her eyes fell upon the Mirad of pills and prescriptions that littered her bathroom vanity. Some to sleep, some to wake up, some to function, some to just numb the pain. Jade grabbed the bathroom trash can and swiped all of them into it. The voice spoke again this time sounding pleased.
“Yes Jade no more potions and pills, it is time for you to once and for all embrace your true self, just like you had in the past before Venice beach.”
Jade walked across the bathroom entering a dimly lit hallway that entered into a clean, but clearly dated kitchen. She emptied the contents of the trash into the kitchen trash hastily grabbed the bag and headed for the door to her apartment. As she entered the hallway as if on cue the neon light bulbs that light the hallway buzzed and hummed as they dimly lit the way. Jade was dressed in her typical attire of a broom style skirt that was complimented by her black tank top with white colorful sugar skulls on it. Her shoes were just a pair of Adidas slides she had out on quickly to throw the garbage down the chute.
As she approached the shoot a neighbor’s door cracked open and an orange tabby cat came strolling. out and purred around Jades ankles. She bent down gingerly and gave the kitty some scratches on the head.
“Oh Marmalade you shouldn’t be out here and I’m pretty sure Mr. Jenks wouldn’t want you opening the door again, although I’m pretty sure he once again forgot to lock his door.”
As she picked up the overly friendly tabby he purred in contentment. Jade went to the door that was cracked open and heard someone stirring inside. She knocked lightly on the door frame and spoke to the apartment.
“Mr. Jenks your kitty once again is outside, you’re lucky Marm knows me so well. You gotta remember to lock your door.”
She said it sweetly as she plopped the small kitty back down. Jade didn’t hear a response, but knew Mr. Jenks was a private man as well and wouldn’t want Jade just loitering around. She made sure to lock the lower door knob as she closed the door.
She sighed inwardly and headed back to her apartment.

*music plays in the background*
‘Memories consume Like opening the wound I'm picking me apart again You all assume I'm safe here in my room Unless I try to start again’
Jade entered her apartment as sunlight threatened to enter like tiny fingers grasping at the curtains trying to pull them apart. Jade squinted as the light hit her eyes and she hastily walked over and closed the room darkening curtains.
“I don't want to be the one The battles always choose 'Cause inside I realize That I'm the one confused’
Shadow echoed in her head speaking more loudly, trying to lull Jade into submission. Her mind was already shattered by what she been through and the fragments where now starting to be put back together with shadows corruption.
“Yes see how comforting the darkness is, yes Jade let the darkness consume you. Together we can be unstoppable. You feel the power flowing through you Jade I can protect you were others have failed. Never again will anyone hurt you or take advantage of the innocent. We can be the judge, jury, and executioner. Justice is corrupt and we can do what justice cannot .”
‘I don't know what's worth fighting for Or why I have to scream I don't know why I instigate And say what I don't mean I don't know how I got this way I know it's not alright So, I'm breaking the habit I'm breaking the habit tonight.’
Jade stood now before a long and tall full length mirror her Jade eyes swirling with aurora’s of violet hues. Her clothing choice was a unique one a broom skirt made of vibrantly colored cloth that flowed with the aurora of purple that surround her. The cotton t shirt she adorned on her top half hugged all the right places the dark material was adorned with white sugar skulls of different colors Jades hair was a honey brown wavy texture with highland of multi rainbow colors. The reflection looking back at her was a version of herself with Shadows influence. She struggled to understand what was happening clenching her head with her hands.
“Argh”
An anguished scream escaped Jades lips as for a moment her emerald green eyes flashed through the deep violet. She fell to her knees her hand slapping on the wood floor underneath her. She looked up from floor.
‘I'll paint it on the walls 'Cause I'm the one at fault I'll never fight again And this is how it ends’
Jade now looked up as shadow now had full control she was now a passenger in her own mind sitting in the backseat watching as shadow took the wheel
‘I don't know what's worth fighting for Or why I have to scream But now I have some clarity To show you what I mean I don't know how I got this way I'll never be alright So, I'm breaking the habit I'm breaking the habit I'm breaking the habit tonight’
She felt a sense of calm, yet righteousness. As she walked to a near by armoire and opened the cherry wood doors. She pulled out a small backpack, two short swords with curved Damascus blades, and obsidian looking handles. Shadow placed the blades on a shelf inside and picked up a gold double sword holster that she put over her back and slide the two blades inside. Shadow at this point had already changed her outfit into a black fitted shirt and black fitted pants with knee high black boots. She then grabbed a black Ninja masks and pulled it over her face and hid her hair inside. Shadow also placed several concealed throwing knives on the outer thighs of her pants as she closed the doors and heading out of the apartment via Jades fire escape.

Jade watched a classic gothic dark movie in the background as she unzipped her knee high boots and tossed them to the side. This last mission Shadow had her on was brutal to her body, but freed her soul. She was finally able to bring to justice the person responsible for a large ring of human trafficking. The hunt and the adrenaline that flowed through her body was like a drug for her. She remembered the moment she found the leader walking down that fateful alley way. As she jumped down from the fire escape her black leather outfit and mask making her nearly invisible as she moved through the shadows. The man tried to fight her grabbing and punching her, even landing a few as Jade fell to the ground and the man drew out throwing knives.
“Guess tonight’s not your night.”
Jade snickered a sinster laugh as the limited flew past her and she changed forward.
“Try harder this time, I’m not weak like your victims. I will fight back”
Jade charged forward towards the man drawing her swords from her back. Jade purposefully missed a vital areas and made sure the wound was superficial as she sliced the man’s side. The man grabbed his side shocked that anything has made contact with him.
“Then again aren’t we all victims at some point, I mean some would say you’re a victim of me.”
She kicked the man’s knees out from under him. As he fell into a knelt position Jade grabbed his hair and forced his head backwards. She drew her blade to his throat and whispered into his ear.
“You will confess to your crimes when they come for you. You will tell them everything.”
Jade grabbed lashing out off of her side that she had for this very moment. She tied the man’s feet and arms together. As he fought her she whispered.
“shhh shhh you wouldn’t want my blade to slip now would you, I would think it would make a nasty gash.”
Jade made sure to pull her blade closer to his throat as she spoke. Jade was not Jade no she was Shadow right now and Shadow enjoyed the mental torment. As she reached into her back pocket she threw picture at the man now tied up and immobile in the alleyway.
“Every one of these photos is a life you could have saved. A life you chose to destroy and take. You don’t die tonight no tonight you live and get to tell everyone I’m coming for them. They will attune for their sins.”
With that Shadow as Jade disappeared into the Shadows. A dark figure could be seen sprinting from roof top to roof top as sirens faded into the darkness.
Jade sat on the couch now contemplating her next move. She decided to use her key and heal herself knowing if she didn’t the one blade of the knife that landed had cut pretty deep and she would need to care for it. Jade clenched her teeth and inserted the key into her body, triggering the magic within and starting her healing process. The pain was excruciating, small price to pay for the ability to self heal. Jade passed out on the couch laying in her own torment.

“Wake up”
Jades eyes opened to the light of a new day. She groaned groggily as she headed for the kitchen and made herself a redbull and coffee. Jade sighed inwardly as she leaned up against the counter top and took a sip of her coffee. She realized now she was still in last nights clothes. She made her way into the bathroom her body ached, even though she was healed her body had gone through a lot so the pain like a distant memory remained.
She had started the shower thinking of ways to stop Shadows rampages at night at what’s she has convinced shadow to leave the hunted for the police to sort out. Just as she washed and cleaned herself up in the shower she got herself dressed. She looked into the mirror to see her own reflection.
Darkness surrounded Jade as she started at herself in the bathroom mirror. Her chest heaving br]Up and down as sweat beads on her brow. A voice cackled in her head like a demon of her last.
“They will pay for their actions one way or another You are the judge I am the executioner remember that Jade.”
She screamed out loud remembering what it felt like to be a puppet with someone else pulling the strings. Her fists balled up and she punched the glass mirror in front of her, just wanting her reflection to stop staring at her. Her bloody hands gripped the sides do the porcelain of the sink leaving behind crimson stains as she grabbed her head and screamed. Her hands stung from the injuries, inwardly she scolded herself, how could she do that knowing it would hurt her physical, but she had been going through the motion lately making who she was and how felt inside. She had gone numb to all emotions and right now the physical pain felt good it was the most she had felt in a long time.
