GOVERNMENT LOOKS INTO NEW TECH TO SOLVE TERRORISM AND CONTROL SUPERS
report by Jessica Jones
Senator Mills (R-OH) has introduced legislation this week that would make the controversial RFiD chips mandatory for all people with super powers, any known terrorists who enter the country or any suspected who reside within, any persons convicted of felonies, and any others deemed a threat to the nation.
"We believe this is the best solution for the world," said Senator Mills in a recent press conference announcing the bill. "It is a non-violent way to combat the forces the common man is up against in this day and age."
The chip, which the Senator indicated could be contracted out to any number of technology companies if the law passes, would not be anything more than a system by which the government would be capable of locating the individuals at any given time anywhere in the world. It would mean that in the case of a person with the chip tried to disappear after an event, or if a credible threat was pinpointed and certain people determined to be behind it or involved, those people could quickly be apprehended.
Senator Harrington (D-PA) agrees with the proposed use of this technology. "Being able to track these individuals will help not only bring justice to those who commit crimes, but it can avoid the event all together in some cases, saving tens maybe hundreds or thousands of lives."
The bill, HR-9520, proposes a satellite locator chip be placed in the blood stream via nanite technology so that it cannot be easily removed. It would carry no other information or purpose. Private citizens without criminal records or super powers would be able to opt out of the chip.
The RFiD chip would be injected under the skin either in the upper arm or hip, rather than the hand or forehead. "To avoid controversy, the chip will not be a tangible 'mark' nor will it be injected into the hand," said a John Marisol, a supporter of the bill. "The religious right will try to compare this to their prophesied 'mark of the beast'. I've read their book, and I know this is not even close to what this looks like.... Their argument is invalid."
Many religious organizations and civil rights organizations have already begun protesting. HR-9520 goes to the House for a vote March 2.
