I was wondering if we could have an arena board. With voting for weekly match-ups/battle royales. Have it to where the fights aren't deadly (or we COULD have non-permanent Death-battles) Also I think we could get a positive response to it. Certain characters wouldn't normally match up but could in this.

Expand your idea. Tell me how you see this working in a writing RP as we don't have points systems in place to do "battle" type forums. How would this play out?

In other forums I have been in there were no points gauges and stats. We just fought until one of us could find no concievable way for us to go on. Of course people got called for god-modding, and Deus Ex Machinima's but on this site Deus Ex Machinima's are a regular occurence. I have often had to concede in battles because the injuries my character had wouldn't allow him to fight any more, or I could find no conceivable way out of my current situation. I prefer that there are no stats to worry about, just ingenuity, and fairness. It tests your writing, and also tests your ability to be fair.

The way we used to do this years ago is by vote. Everyone had one vote on each of the matches and a freebie vote they could put in on other matches and not vote on themselves. The matches were normally voted on creativity, writing style, Or honorable mention for some reason or another. even the best hero of the tournament, the most heart, best villain, even the rookie, and the most ruthlessness. Lopsided matches of the presumed get to chose there home field advantage handicap freebee vote for themselves.
In order to do that we would need close quarter boards, open areas and crowed areas or medium size areas. If no response we normally did judges at least three but they could not judge there own match a alt would be placed in for there match. At the end the mods created banners and so on for the character to get some sort of reward they even did personnel pics for the character.

I think if there's a consensus and people would be interested go for it. Personally, I'm not big on versus for versus sake, unless it's blind happenstance in a thread or the like. Just throwing down in an area that likely has no real bearing on the site or its storyline is just unappealing to me for various reasons. That being said, if others would enjoy it by all means feel free.

I have been waiting on Revan's return before I make decisions on this, as I prefer to have other Staff input for site changes. That said, if he doesn't return this week, I'll just make a decision and pretend to be a dictator for a day.

I don't want to rush it or anything. If you need more time to get imput that's fine. It's whatever you want to do though.

OK, after consulting with my crew, here is the deal: You have an Arena board. It's located in the Alternate Universe board for Alternate role play. It is a sub-board. Any member can create polls. Any member can create threads, fight one another, or otherwise do whatever in the arena you want to do. It will in no way effect anything in the main role play areas and no moderators are there to make rules. We suggest you work out the rules with the other writer before you being an arena fight. Furthermore, we also suggest that you create polls at the end of a "fight" role play to have other members vote on who they think won. Have at it and enjoy.
