Val Cooper had tried this sort of crap before. Some windowless room with a metal chair and weird lighting. Buncha talk meant to scare people who didn't know nothing. People who couldn't stay planted to the ground when the heat came.
It wouldn't work against the Blob. Of course it wouldn't. He saw this for what it was. He was an asset, sure. Fury figured those alien aholes wouldn't duplicate him for more reasons than one. Wasn't he already vetted already between Fury and his old work with the Freedom Force. This was bullshit.
"What is this, really? Don't look like a shrink. They still show them ink stains and stuff? Always looks like someone spilled ketchup. We teamin' up for some sorta sting? Find out who has green skin and chin marks?"
That very metal chair seemed to be screaming, trying to handle the weight of a man whose girth routinely stopped Hulk's fists and in his youth stopped cannonballs. Template adapted from Silv.

If the real thing don't do the trick You better make up something quick You gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn to the wick
Stepping into the room, and making sure the door was closed behind her, Sharon sighed softly. She didn't look at the other occupant of the cramped space at first. She had been listening to him gripe from the other side of a two-way mirror for several minutes now and already her patience was worn thin.
When she did turn to face him after a few seconds, she shook her head and moved over towards the table. "It's called a Rorschach test, and I'm sure the good doctor would have a lot to say about you seeing them all as spilled ketchup." Placing a file down on the table, the agent didn't bother to take her seat, instead preferring to stand opposite the large mutant. "And yes, they still use them from time to time. Not why we're here, though. I'm told you want to help us?"
She still wasn't 100% convinced Fred Dukes would be able to help them, but Sharon was always willing to give things a try. At least she was always willing to be there so if something went wrong there was at least someone capable of handling it nearby.

The Blob laughed. He hooted. He hollered. He seemed to think what she had said was the funniest thing he had ever heard.
"Do all you government types get together to make sure you all sound the same and make the same dumb as hell statements year after year after year?"
He leaned forward in his chair which creaked.
"I want to help you? That makes it sound like I came running to Fury. Oh! Mister Fury! Mister Fury! Can I please join your team?"
The CHAMPION OF THE LITTLE GUY scoffed. "I didn't come to you people, your people came to me. There's a difference. Fury came to me hat in hand.”
Really, it was a distinction without a difference but the Blob's file, which she surely read twice at least, was filled to the brim with incidents and attitudes like this both before and after his first turn to herodom. He was a team player only in so much as it came to the 'actual' team. The government handler types he had little to no patience for. Template adapted from Silv.

Sharon held back her reply to the man's remark about her comment. Suggesting they learned how to talk to someone of his intelligence through sensitivity training would get a smile from her, but there was no need to start off with insults from both sides. Instead, she just gave him a simple shrug. She was just about to talk when Dukes went into his little rant about Fury.
Of course this bought a raised eyebrow from the SHIELD agent. As he spoke, she pulled out here chair and sat down, a finger moving beneath the table to press a hidden button. A small red light in the corner of the room turned off before she glanced to the side to look at the wall. No one was supposed to be watching, but after Blob's outburst, she wasn't sure it would stay that way.
Fury wasn't with SHIELD anymore, at least not officially, and at least one of the the two directors wouldn't be happy to hear he was sending people their way. Agent 13, however, was more than willing to work with the man, even if it meant stepping on some toes. He had earned her loyalty.
"Alright, start at the beginning. What did Fury say?"

The Blob laughed at the question. These idiots and their cloaks and daggers and cloak-covered daggers!
"He didn't tell ya? What's the matter, kid? You not need to know, you know?"
He leaned back in his chair that struggled even more to accommodate him on only two legs.
"He said he wasn't with you guys anymore. Which is probably a lie. He's always got something up his sleeve."
Dukes didn't really care about blowing Fury's cover. A man like him never really laid low. It was too damn boring.
Still, he understood trust, or distrust. He wasn't going to tell her everything. She didn't know what the Hell SHIELD wanted in all this other than to get at Fury.
"He wants me to fight some bullshit, because that's what I do. I've been beating the crap out of stuff for the government for long enough, I guess I'm one of those go to guys that you guys go to."
"Dunno if you guys know this but I got a lot more powerful after Apocalypse tricked me. I got free from that and Fury came and found me. He didn't leave a forwarding address if that's your next question. Even he ain't that stupid."
There were a few details he was glossing over in that. SHIELD really didn't need to know what he did to Jean Grey. They might anyway. She was powerful as hell. They liked keeping tabs on people like that.

The barbs thrown at her didn't phase Agent 13 as she listened to the man's story. If Fury thought she didn't need to know, Blob wouldn't be here filling her in, a task she was certain was intended. As SHIELD's superhuman liaison, she would be the first person to really get to speak to the mutant criminal.
Well, her or Valerie Cooper, but the latter wasn't around the area as often, spending more time in Washington.
Dukes had become as much Fury's messenger in this exchange as he was the former director's weapon.
"And what bullshit needs fighting?" the veteran agent inquired, trying to urge a little more information from the Blob. "Did Fury give you a name, or just a general 'go kick ass with S.H.I.E.L.D., they could use someone like you' speech?" The latter seemed unlikely. There was almost no way the former Freedom Force member would keep Fury's name quiet, so unless he wanted everyone to know Blob was a plant...
More than likely there was a specific target, and Blob was picked for a reason.

There! The other shoe dropped from wherever it is that shoes dropped from!
"Heh. You think I'm stupid? What part of you don't need to know do you not know?"
She pressed him on his target. He knew enough about the Skrulls that there was a very real possibility she was doubling as a double agent.
"He's going after Mystique. At-large international terrorist that she is. He figured I'd have an in 'cause we used to work together. We don't know exactly what she's planning, but we know it's got something to do with Destiny. The mutant, not like fate or some shit. He thinks she's trying to bring her back to life. I don't. She's deader than dead. But, that's something we'll just have to figure it out."
It was bullshit. Every word. He figured Carter, unlike Cooper, wouldn't know too much about the mutant side of things.
"So, go file your little report, so I can get to work." Template adapted from Silv.

Mystique and Destiny. Two more former Freedom Force members, with the latter having lost her life in the line of duty. As least as close to duty as you can call it when the government is using supervillains against heroes. Why such terrible ideas ever got beyond someone saying something completely stupid and then fired was beyond Sharon. Eventually someone would learn the lesson that using supervillains was never a good look and it rarely ended well.
Still, as he spoke, Carter frowned. Mystique seemed an odd target for Fury, and if all she was trying to do was bring back an old woman, it hardly seemed that important. If his target was Mystique, no doubt the reason was much more interesting. His insistence to 'get to work' also struck a nerve.
"This report?" the woman asked as she lifted up the paper she had been quietly scribbling on while they talked. "It's not a report." She flipped it around, showing off a badly drawn caricature of the big man. "See, I file a report saying you're working for Fury, and you probably get thrown in a brig somewhere. To some people around here, that man's a traitor. He took a bunch of superheroes and attacked a sovereign nation, then proceeded to wipe their minds. Almost got the entire country blown off the map."
Setting her crude drawing back on the table, she flipped the file closed.
"I trust him enough to think he had good reason, to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now, I tell Director Hill, his replacement who isn't particularly fond of super folk, he's sent a terrorist our way and wants us to work with him?" Agent 13 whistled in a way that sounded like that scenario wasn't going to end well for anyone. "I'd like to avoid that. So, if you want to tell me just who does need to know, I can see about getting them in a room with you. If you don't have a name, then I'm the person that needs to know, and you should probably start talking."

The Blob looked over the doodle the government stooge made of him. At least she had the good sense not to depict him shoveling a sandwich in his mouth or something like that. He was more than his code name.
"You didn't get my nose right.", he flippantly noted.
She talked about all the things these people would do to him because of what Fury himself did. He laughed in her face.
"How old are you, lady? SHIELD does that sort of stuff all the damn time. I was sent to topple so many Colonel Mendozas or Crown Prince Saids when I worked for Uncle Sam.So, spare me the clean-hands Captain America routine."
The Blob scoffed.
"Seems you're in more of a bind than you think you are. If you trust Fury, you probably think that he's the only one who needs to know. If he wants to quote himself, he knows where you are. He doesn't want you people joining. Hill will screw it up. He figures if you all can't catch a know shapeshifter, how will you handle HYDRA walking down your halls?"
He glanced at the picture again then to Agent 13. This was coupled with a shift in his stance as he anchored to the ground below.
"Oh, by the way, you didn't get her nose right either." Template adapted from Silv.
