Prelude: In the beginning earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep. From the darkness came the Demiurge and from the Demiurge came it's children, some called them primordials, others called them The Elder gods. For a time things were peaceful but it would not last. Set wishing to eliminate all those that opposed him devoured his brother Hypuss and begate the first murder. He realized that by devouring his siblings he could increase his own power. Some of his brothers and sisters discovered this and thus began the first war on earth. Those who devoured their siblings turned into Demons, such as Set and Chthon. Gaea mourned this destruction and in desperation bore a child with the Demiurge. This child went by two names, Atum and Demogorge the god-eater.
Demogorge devoured the corrupted gods, but became corrupted himself. Not wanting to harm his sisters Gaea and Oshtur he ventured into the sun and was reborn.
Now in the present through means unknown the elder gods are seemingly returning even the ones that were devoured. Some walk the earth in physical form, while others exist as spiritual energy possessing heroes and villains alike as avatars greatly amplifying their powers or even giving them new ones akin to the Phoenix force or Khonshu.
Chaos is erupting as the demons and gods are trying to carve out followings. Cults worshipping these old gods are beginning to rise. But the greatest danger may lie within the god-eater himself, for if he learns that the elder gods have returned, he will reawaken within Atum, and he will not stop until they have all been devoured, even if it means devouring the universe itself.
Summary: So i've not made it a secret that it's always bugged me how a Marvel universe is a big place and it in itself is part of a massive infinite multiverse, and yet Marvel seems to repeat many of the same stories over and over again with the same threats despite their being a rich world of ancient, classic and modern culture that writers can pull from and either don't or just barely do. So I thought I'd create an event that would introduce some potential ideas for storytelling, provide some barely used or even original characters based on various myths and religions, and maybe do some other cool stuff.
The elder gods themselves: Aside from the Main four and the one that was murdered (Set, Chthon, Gaea, and Oshtur) We're not really given that much information on the Elder gods and how many there were which opens up a possibility for some new blood in the marvel universe.
The gods we know: (Aka the ones listed in 616 prime Canon)
Set:
"From the darkness oozed, in flowing scaly coils, the ultimate horror of reptilian development."
Chthon:
"Weak souls taste lovely."
Gaea:
