All the good love when we're all alone, Keep it up girl! Yeah, you turn me on. -------------------- As the Skrull started firing at the K.I.T.T., Star-Lord barrel rolled the starcraft out of harm's way, using the smaller ship's maneuverability to keep them ahead of the barrage of the greater force's main battery and the clouds provided by Thor to keep them one step ahead of the armada's ability to target them. The lightning crackled all around them in sharp bursts of light, though the soundless nature of the vacuum provided nothing for the sound of the thunder to follow behind. Gamora and Rocket busied themselves with targeting the fleet while Quill threaded through the needles of the oncoming fire, proving that they could work as an effective team when the chips were down.
"It's Star-Lord, man," he said, his concentration never wavering from the battle going on all around them. The last thing he needed to do was go into a diatribe about his name and get them all blown up. He was that immature after all. "We've can handle rain. Normally I'd stick Rocky on aWHOA!" His words were interrupted as he had to pull the K.I.T.T. up in a sharp climb, narrowly missing the vectors of a pair of high powered lasers from the main ship. He didn't seem to put off though, deciding to finish his comment when he got everything back into order. "...stick Rocket on a stick and use him to wipe off the windows, but we don't need to do that."
The scanners lit up from the skirmish, lights flashing here and there as Peter tried to keep an eye on them and the screen before him, looking for an opening. All at once to his starboard side, a burst of lightning ripped through one of their enemies shields and Gamora took her shot, crippling the small vessel and making a hole for them. Twisting the ship into a roll, the K.I.T.T. banked sharply and was through the space the enemy ship and shield had been taking up just a moment before, thrusters firing them towards the planet.
"Whoomp, there it is!" he cheered into the ship intercom, grinning beneath his mask the whole time. "Just watch out for ground cannons. I'm sure they won't want to let us land easily. Rocket, think you can still disable that big ship? I'd rather it not follow us down there."

Rocket rolled his eyes as Quill mentioned putting him on a stick and using him to clean the windows.
"Quill buddy I think it's time to come up with new material!"
He said with a cheezy smile before he went back to doing what he does best. Pressing the red button! It was then Quill's skillful piloting kicked into overdrive and they were headed to the planet.
"Mighty fine piloting there Quill!"
Rocket said before Quill asked about the ship. He smiled from ear to ear.
"Just give me a clear shot on that thing..."
He said as he had the ship busters ready. The moment the right time came he looked at quill and grinned from ear to ear.
"Hey Quill! How is it they said it in that one movie you like? SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!"
Rocket yelled before he slammed his fist on the button... A cluster of ship buster missiles homed in on the target... Groot let out a long sigh.
"I am Groot... I am Groot..."
Translation: You hit a button... It's not that serious...
Groot said keeping an eye on the scanners just in case things turned sideways.

The Skrull quickly found out just how powerful their new enemies were, as lightning arched out and began attacking the smaller ships. Sparks shot out from the control panels, causing the aliens to curse loudly. "Comm systems are down!" they hissed "and shields are gone!", one ship even began to back off! "It's too intense, we'll get closer to the planet! If these fools mean to attack, they won't get through!" The pilot of the big ship cursed. "No, come back you cowards! We can still take them down" he yelled, managing to shoot off more lasers as he tried to ram the invading ship. However they were just too fast and barreled through where the other smaller ship had taken a critical hit. "No, stop them! They're heading to the planet, we can't let them reach it!"
The big ship tried turning, but was hit by massive blows from the other ship. They just managed to keep upright, and finished turning, heading after the ship and shooting at them. "They're ignoring our transmissions, we need help!" was the final message sent to the planet by the big ship before their comm systems went down, the Skrull were determined to not let these invaders onto their home!

With the confirmation that their ship had indeed been equipped for bad weather, Thor grinned as he stepped away from the window. For this, he didn't need to see what was happening, he simply needed to concentrate, which could be best achieved from a chair, rather than staying standing.
The lightning continued, even if the randomness creeping back a little, but once Thor reached his seat, he closed his eyes for a moment, Mjolnir glowing not with the intensity of a thunderbolt, but with a much more gentle aura. After a few moments, Thor opened his eyes, and declared to everyone in the ship "Now, let them see why I am called the lord of storms!"
And the heavens opened. Torrential rain lashed their surroundings, even well outside the planet's atmosphere. Without the windshield wipers, their sight would have surely been obscured entirely. Plus, given that the enemy ships were now covered in water, the bolts of lightning were becoming far more accurate, the soaked targets as good as a lightning rod.
"I can keep this up all day. But did you have a plan for locating Mockingbird, or do we need to search their entire homeworld?"
All day really was a possibility for him. So far, this had been a fairly small use of his powers. But how much punishment could their ship take? Given how much he was focusing on making sure they didn't get hit, probably not all that much. The largest ship seemed to be a real threat, even if not all that accurate. Was that a lingering effect of all the electricity he'd been throwing around? Hard to say. Hopefully it was though. As long as he kept it up, that would mean they'd have trouble hitting them.

Gamora enjoyed the fun of rapid gun exchanges with the smaller ships while Rocket and Thor's lightning took out the rest. Of course, Quill's idea of sneaking onto the planet and extracting the girl included getting shot at by the welcoming committee. Honestly, Gamora would have been surprised if this worked out any other way. Star-Lord was quite simply a danger magnet. Every job they did brought slightly more danger than he ever anticipated or planned for. It was a good thing for him that he had such a damned good team to back him up!
Her guns blazing, Gamora shot at another ship. She saw it power down and become disabled just before noticing the larger ship was turning to chase them. Their own pilots were subpar, it seemed, which made this mere target practice for the seasoned warrior. Sure, she'd prefer a more hands-on, personal approach to fighting her enemies, but this would do for now. Surely there would be a lot more fighting once they landed on the planet, especially since Thor was so graciously announcing their presence with dramatic, pinpointing flair.

All the good love when we're all alone, Keep it up girl! Yeah, you turn me on. -------------------- "Alright guys, cease fire, we're engaging cloak," Star-Lord said as he glanced over at Rocket, giving him a nod to turn it on. They had this worked out earlier. The little guy would run the scanners like he always did, looking for their target and Quill would fly them in nice and quiet like. A good landing, then some fighting to the mainframe, and they would get their next objective. Peace of cake.
Glancing over at Thor, though, he realized he should probably fill the big guy in.
"There's a prison complex, they should have a database of all the prisoners on the planet. Rocket's gonna find us that database while I land K.I.T.T., then we'll hoof it there, taking out any resistance in the way of course. Cracking into that will get us the pretty lady's whereabouts, then another trek to get her. Bada-bing, bada-boom, back to the ship we go, and we're home free."
He was leaving out the copious amounts of shooting and death-defying stunts, of course, but with Thor, Gamora, and Groot with them, he wasn't terribly worried. Rocket would handle the security, and he wasn't a slouch in a fight either. Plus, he was bringing his Spartax gear for this run. He only busted it out for special occasions these days but he figured what was more special than fighting an entire planet next to a god and his best friends? Especially with Drax missing.
"Wheels down in two! Lock and load, people!" The starship didn't actually have wheels really, but it was still fun to say.

Rocket looked at quill and nodded his head as he turned the cloak on.
"Alright Quill let's see what we got to work with here!"
He said turning on the scanners his tiny fingers tapping away at the keyboard in front of him... Groot listened and nodded as Quill went over the plan.
"I am Groot..."
Translation: Sounds easier said than done...
Groot said knowing full well this was going to be a complete war zone they were walking into. Rocket let out a yawn as he let the computers scan the area.
"Alright scan is almost complete here..."
Rocket said as the map came up on screen...
"Ok Quill..."
Rocket said with a long sigh seeing the location...
"Looks like the central database is located within the prison's security room... One of the highest guarded places here..."
Rocket said hitting more buttons...
"Sending a copy of the map to your visor Quill... Figure it could be a good point of reference..."
He said typing frantically. Rocket set up a program where he can send information and data to Star Lord's visor as needed. It was a nifty trick that he knew Quill appreciated.
"Alright download is complete!"
Rocket said jumping up off his chair. He walked over grabbing one of his pulse rifles and his back pack... He knew they were heading into enemy territory so he had to break out the heavy artillery for this one!
"Alright Lord! Anything else before we get this show on the road?"
He asked just waiting for the order to head out... Groot stood up waiting by the door alongside Rocket as well...

The pilot of the smaller Skrull ship headed for the planet, desperately needing repairs but also planning on attempting to block the invading ship. On the planet, the Skrull were racing around, trying not to panic as they had finally figured out just who was attacking them, especially when one of them shouted "They're scanning our prison database, they're after our prisoners!" One of the techs frantically tried to block access, but they were too late, and orders were given to return all prisoners to their cells. "We don't know who they're coming after, so amp up the guards on the cells and prevent that ship from landing!" one of them yelled, as the pilots of the remaining ships tried once more to form a blockade.
Unfortunetely, it then started raining in addition to the thunder and lightning! "Ahh, we can't see!" became the cries as the ships swerved, not having the handy windshield wipers that CITT had. They fired their lasers but the shots went wild, hurtling off into space, while the main ship followed behind. The captain swore, yelling "Get comms up! They need to know they're coming!" while the officers tried their best to obey.

A cloak, he did not understand. That was something to keep the worst of the weather off, right? But not so much as a drop of water had made it through the hull of their ship. So why did they need a cloak? And how would a ship wear a cloak anyway? Fortunately, 'cease fire' was something Thor did understand, and he let his attacks cease. Had he more understanding of the situation, he would have maintained the less localised ones, as they would have given no information away of their location. But this lack of coordination was normal when working with unknown warriors.
The plan seemed simple enough, though it sounded like there would be an extensive fight ahead of them, on a personal scale, rather than in their sky vessel. That was ideal, given that it was far more Thor's style to face his enemies, rather than hide behind a metal shell and let a button do the fighting. "Just tell me when someone is in our way, and I shall remedy that, in the traditional manner."
He stooped to pick up Mjolnir, hefting it in his hand as if to illustrate the point being made. Whilst he waited for the cloak to engage, Thor looked out the window at the enemy ships, struggling to adjust to the torrential rain. He grinned as he knew the water would soon be freezing solid and leaving their views completely obscured. That would slow them all down considerably, no doubt. Maybe they'd catch up eventually, but by then, they would hopefully already be well away from them.

"Finally," Gamora said under her breath.
It wasn't the best scenario to engage the Skrulls before landing on their planet but it was always a possibility, and since this was only "Plan B" Gamora considered it a success thus far. Sure, the Almighty Thunder God and the Swashbuckling Lord of the Stars made a more theatrical entrance than was probably necessary and, sure, their ability to get to the prisoner that they intended to free may have just become slightly more difficult, but Gamora was not concerned. It seemed like almost every time they did a job Quill enjoyed stroking his ego just a little more than might have been healthy, but things almost always turned out positively for them. Besides, Gamora honestly enjoyed a little bit more challenge in their missions. She would have been bored if everything went according to "Plan A". Of course, there was no way in hell she would ever let anyone else know that.
Leaving the plasma canon behind, Gamora made her way again toward the bay. She girded herself with guns and knives and just about anything else that would fit on her person without adding too much bulk to fight. Then she folded her arms and waited for the landing. As soon as the doors opened, she'd be out the door. There was no sense in waiting on the Skrulls to make the first move, nor any reason for them to think they were coming for the prison - unless they believed this Mockingbird human was of great value. Then they just might. However, since Mockingbird was not some superpowered asset, the chances of that were less likely. Oh well, thought Gamora, whatever happens, this should at least prove entertaining.

All the good love when we're all alone, Keep it up girl! Yeah, you turn me on. -------------------- K.I.T.T. started the final landing procedures and Peter let the A.I. take over. Standing up, he moved over to one of the lockers at the back of the cockpit and pulled out a blue uniform with a dome helmet. Slipping into it quickly as everyone else was gearing up, he tapped his regular helmet off, allowing it to digitize back into his widgets only to replace it with his older style one.
He didn't find much use for his Spartax Star-Lord gear, but it could take a hit from a starship. If he was going to run around with Thor and fight the Skrull homeworld, he might as well pull out all the stops. Plus, Rocket had been super cool and sent the map to the database to the old chrome dome. Grabbing a pair of Kree sub-machine guns to go with his element guns, he nodded.
"Alright, we'll leave the ship in cloak and Groot here to cover it. He's our escape route. Thor and Gamora are our point team, me and Rocket will cover the back. There's about three hundred meters of open ground before we get inside, so watch out for ships until we get inside." He nodded at the team with a grin. Not that they could see his lips. He had a metal bucket on his head.
He really hated this helmet, but damned if it wasn't useful when flargs hit the fan.
The ship made a slight bump as it touched down and he reached over to tap the button to open the rear hatch, opening it and extending the exit ramp to the world of Skrullos.

When the ship landed Rocket hopped out of his seat and grabbed his back pack opening it up.
"Alright.... Plasma bomb, anti gravity fields, Explosive devices, Duct tape..."
He mumbled as he checked to make sure all his gear was ready.
"Alright you heard the man!"
Rocket said strapping on his plasma pistols.
"IT'S MURDER TIME LADIES!!!"
He said with almost a sadistic tone in his voice. Groot let out a sigh and walked over to the main cab.
"I am Groot... I am Groot..."
Translation: Keep the communication line open... I can warn you guys if anything pops up on the scanners..."
Groot said making himself comfortable getting into position. While Groot is practically a tank out in the battlefield he's just as competent at the controls of the jet. In fact it's debatable but many would say he's as good if not better than Rocket as an engineer!
"Hey Groot! Keep my seat warm could ya?"
Rocket said with a wink heading to the back door.
"Alright Quill lead the way!"
He said with his pistols in hand ready for action

The Skrulls that were manning the ships cursed as CITT suddenly disappeared! "They have a cloaking device, someone stay on them!" the pilot of the big ship yelled, but it was useless as the comm systems were still down and the big ship had to land. Hitting the alarm, they descended to the planet, the captain shouting orders. "Once we hit land, I want all soldiers pursuing the intruders, except for one third of you." Pointing to a trusted few, he barked out "You set up extra guards around the prisons, don't let them through! The rest of you need to stay with the ship, I expect repairs done promptly!"
None of the other Skrulls dared speak up against him, most had never seen him that mad before. Instead, they ran with purpose, the soldiers ready to hop off the ship while everyone braced for impact, as they were coming in hard. In spite of everything they managed to land with everyone okay on board, and as soon as the doors opened, the Skrulls poured out and ran to their assigned areas. "We can't see them!" a couple of soldiers exclaimed, looking around for anything suspicious, then one of them pointed. "There, come on!" he yelled, charging the small group as shots fired.

It seemed it was time to head into the field of battle in person. Perhaps they were not actually seeking a fight, merely expecting one to seek them out. But still, compared to combing the depths of space, or throwing lightning around at large, wet metal targets, getting to fight people properly would be a refreshing change of pace. Even if it was unlikely that there would be a serious challenge, it was possible they had some alien weapons that might pose a real risk.
As they left the ship, he finally understood what this 'cloak' was. A useful trick, and hopefully not one that Loki would earn about, in case it gave him ideas. But the others were running, and Thor ran with them. He could have gone faster, but it was better to stay in a group, so splitting them up would be more difficult.
They hadn't covered much of the distance before shouts came from the Skrulls. They had been spotted it seemed, and were being chased in large numbers. Thor could stay out of their range without any effort at all, but doing so would abandon his comrades to fight them alone, and that was unthinkable. Instead, he let them get a little ahead of him, making sure that in case the Skrulls were fast enough to catch the group up, he was the first one they would reach. And if they started firing any weapons, he'd be the best target. Being shot was unpleasant, but he could probably take a hit better than anyone else there.
The first few shots rang out, the hiss of energy weapons unmistakable. The first few went wide, the next one was blocked with Mjolnir, the follow up impacting into his torso, causing him to stagger and lose his stride for a moment, before regaining his balance. They packed more of a punch than he'd been expecting...

Gamora was happy to take point. She exited the ship upon the hatch opening with as much caution as enthusiasm to get on with the mission. Their entry into Skrull space could have gone better but somehow they'd drawn all of the attention to themselves. Gamora would still find the human woman and perform her tasks like the professional she was, but that didn't mean she didn't wish they had been able to enter more stealthily.
Moving forward at a brisk pace, Gamora planned to close the three hundred meters as quickly and quietly as possible. However, within minutes, their ship was somehow located on the surface and their enemy was giving chase. Gamora evaded the energy blasts deftly, her eyes ever on the place ahead that was their target. A prison on an alien planet. It shouldn't pose any more trouble for them than any other but there was always a small amount of trepidation. Gamora wasn't fond of prisons and loathed the idea of being captured and contained for any amount of time. Survival was never the issue for her. Freedom was, and thus she made sure to avoid any unnecessary risks at being shot while covering the distance.
Upon nearing the prison, it appeared that no one had yet alerted them to their incoming visitors - or at least if they had then they had yet to mobilize. This was their first good break, and an omen Gamora hoped proved to be favorable to their quest. She slowed and hid behind a pillar that erupted from the planet's surface about thirty meters from the entrance of the prison. She scanned the area and noted that several such pillars surrounded the building. Her mind worked quickly to analyze the possibilities. These were most likely naturally occurring but that did not mean that they were not used as watch towers for the prison.
Gamora didn't have time to care or analyze further. After assessing her friends and newfound ally in this escapade, and finding them still moving and alive, Gamora continued her progress toward the prison gates. Personally, she would have preferred to scale a wall, but considering their circumstances she considered the front doors the favored option. of course, she was part of a team, though, so Gamora paused briefly while dodging a stray blast of energy from behind.
"Do we charge through the front gates or is there another plan? Quill?"
